Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition boasts 1080p resolution, 'buttery framerate'

Looks like they've confirmed it will run at 30fps in 1080p. Pretty disappointing and even more reason they shouldn't be charging full price for shiny new textures.

For those who’ve been contemplating the purchase of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for either Xbox One or PS4, this fact could, and should affect your decision. Scot Amos of Crystal Dynamics has confirmed,

“The Definitive Edition will be 1080p, 30FPS on both PS4 and Xbox One”

Contrary to what the studio has been saying, the lack of 60FPS alongside the 1080p resolution makes the definitive edition much less attractive. This may act as a deal breaker for those who have been thinking about “double dipping” on the title. It’s also harder to justify the full retail price-tag when resolution is really the only upgrade.

I think that's going to change a lot of people's minds about this thing. Unless you don't care about framerate, which you should, I guess the PC version really is the Definitive Edition. :D

If I had a PS4 I would still get it. The PS4 will need some time to settle its feet and I can't think of a better game to replay while waiting than tomb raider. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush right

I'll probably get it eventually too when I get a PS4, but it's definitely a good reason to wait for a huge price drop.

Agreed, but I am almost certain that it will become an essentail or classic over the next few years on the next gen.

I would look at this if I were you, PC on top and the new one is below. TressX looks even better on PC than here, looks like more individual hairs on the PC version.

She looks more determined on PS4. Or is that her "Not sure if definitive or not..." expression?

Primary reason I went back to PC was to evade more 30fps games. I was unable to game for decent sessions due to headaches from framedrops. Especially Dark Souls - I'm sure that was intentional.

I still haven't finished it. Basically just passed the "Radio Tower" section and now it just feels like a run-n-gun'er. Does it get better?

Its still a lot of running and shooting but there are still plenty of stealthy moment. IMO it was certainly a game of the year worthy title.

We can't really say which platform will be superior in this game consider that the DE isn't the same game as the one that released originally . Can't compare unless PC gets a DE as well.

Underrated game is underrated. Don't know why it gets so overlooked"whistling:

Why all the DP's, why not just edit a post? :)

Anyways, carried on playing this yesterday - Forgot how epic it was and how great it looked, has me very excited to see how good the DE looks!
