PS4 error could brick your console, delete game progress

Another reason why I always wait for the 2nd gen consoles since theres always something wrong with the 1st gen ones.

Hopefully they will fix it via firmware updates.
 
Well that sucks, must have thousands of unhappy gamers losing saved game process.
Sony is probably working on a fix to be released via a firmware update.

Issues like these wants to make me wait for the PS4 slim.. which is a couple of years away from now.
 
This wont stop me from buying one... Surely this will be rectified relatively quickly...

Any if a console does get bricked, im sure sony would replace it...
 
Hopefully they sort this out quickly or they'll have a lot of angry customers on their hands. This is one of the reasons I decided against purchasing one on release as there are usually issues like this.

Well its the sample size and the time they test it which makes a difference, may only be 1% of them which have a problem.

Same thing happened with my Pokemon X and Y some of them had an error which would break the saves yet I never had problems.

They repaired it quite fast so hope they do same with ps4.

And this is why I wait for the early adopters to iron out the kinks in the hardware/software. I will get the console later in 2014 when this stuff is fixed and there's no more issues with it. :D
 
Thats why they have a one year warranty, if your machine bricks. only problem is supply issues, you might have to wait for a replacement. They will probably fix it with a firmware update.

I've never had a console brick on me... but is one able to download firmware updates if your console has bricked?

Isn't there a factory reset like smartphones/3ds/routers etc. all have incase that happens?

Not that I have found in my research so far. Holding down the PWR button eventually brings up the recovery. If you cant even get there, then the EEPROM or something needs to be flashed directly from the motherboard. All depends on the level of the brick.
