Your Scary In-Game Moments

yeah deadspace also had an eerie feeling to it and yeah Alma from Fear scared many a big men that i can promise you

The first Dead Space had some real pants-shitting moments. Especially at the start of the game. Later, when your guns have been upgraded enough the scares also became more predictable and less intense. Up to the point where you're at final stages and going "come at me, bro" to the monster. I caught myself saying exactly that

The first Bioshock also had some scares for me although the whole feeling of general uneasiness was stronger than cheap scares.

And of course all the Doom games.

Doom 3 gave me a couple of goosebumps!

And the entire first Dead Space 1, maybe because I used to play it after midnight holiday time.

In Amnesia when you get to the first water bit. It was so bad that I quit and only continued the next day.

And to think I stopped playing after the distorted vision parts right in the beginning of the game! :o

Haha yeah, the original definitely had the best atmosphere. The twinkle twinkle little star tune playing softly in the distance was particularly eerie. As for DS 2 & 3 I love the entire series but they lost their scare factor when they became more action orientated rather than survival horror.

Couple goosebumps, after I finished it I couldn't play it again. I did play with earphones on though makes it much more intense for me.

I'm beginning to think I need to give Dead Space another chance. I'm a survival horror fan and I was kinda bored by it so didn't progress too far...

Is this one of those games where you focus so much on the blue dot then BAM! Scary face in your face?

I'm asking as it says please turn up your sound :p

Lol yes, exactly! The people that have not played the game yet, won't know when to expect the suprise. So will wait for feedback if anyone do decide on trying it out :D

Hahaha good thing I stopped then. I saw a video clip once about some 'ghostly figure' moving across the screen, and the clip made you focus on it. Next thing you know, MJ Thriller face is on the screen screaming so loudly at you.

I have never skrikked so big in my life. I was numb for a moment.

This moment will remain forever my scariest moment on any game:

Diablo 1, the first time i open ed the door to "the Butcher" and he says: "AHGGG FREEAASHH MEEAAT!!!", i nearly soiled myself, and still after the first time, every time i did the butcher, i got that weird (hear in neck stand up) feeling, even when i think about it now, it game me the creeps!

Biggest scare I had in a game was not so much the game as to happened around the time I played it.

Game: Aliens vs Predator
Time: After midnight
Location: Home alone as the wife was away on business.

Scenario: Was playing as a marine hunting em damn face huggers that barely register on the bloody radar. Had the sound cracked up on my headphones playing with all the lights off. As I was about to pin down one nasty in a dead end corridor my damn cat decided its the best time to go sit on someone's lap.

Now picture this, as the damn face hugger leaped at me, Monty (my black fking cat) decided to jump from the bookcase on the side desk towards my lap. Needless to say I jumped up, adrenaline pumping, from the chair clicking like a gun happy hippy that just got an assault rifle at a raffle, pointing the mouse at the cat that by now got a bigger fright than me and was looking for a way out of the room.

Still think its a bloody miricale that my heart did not go into arithmetic shock from that. The damn ticker was clocking 180-220 bpm easy.

Yeah that was bloody scary! I remember being at my cousins house and watching him try and try to defeat it...
And then finally after countless attempts he finally did it and we were celebrating like he had won the world cup or something :)

Mine was in F.E.A.R.

There's a portion of the game where your receiver just blasts static, which usually means evilness looms nearby. However all I encountered was clones, got into the Quake 3 run, pwning dudes and having slo-mo fun for damn long, game actually became fun! :D

Then I rounded a corner in this office cubicle portion of the game and there, where ammo should have been, was Elma. I ka/ked myself.

Yea, playing F.E.A.R. right now. There's a few creepy moments to be had there.

Some of the scariest moments in any game I've played were in Clive Barker's Undying. Anything involving Aaron...

I must say mine was this: In the dark, full screen and on high volume you cannot not be scared by this.

I fell off the chair and shat myself simultaneously xD
