Thief gameplay preview video

I haven't seen much in the way of preview for Thief, which isn't always a good sign... Eurogamer has now put up a video, and while it sounds like the game can stand on its own merits it may disappoint die-hard series fans.

I've already put in my pre-order, so I'm remaining optimistic :P

Watched this too now from Eurogamer and came here to post somewhere about it...hoping that maybe it opens up a bit more and also provides a few more choices (I'm not too keen on the game being too linear and/or easy). Also not quite as optimistic as you though so I'll only consider picking up a copy once I've seen a few reviews post launch but at the same time I'm hoping it turns out to be a worthwhile game
 
Yeah I am a little bit underwhelmed. I loved the original Thief games and expected a little bit more. But it's still early so I'll continue following it, but they don't have my money yet...
 
I'm super paranoid about spoilers, so I'm not going to watch ANY gameplay footage. I already pre-ordered the game, I just really hope it's not a huge disappointment.

I think most reboots are a let down :(

I don't know about that. Off the top of my head, I can think of way more good reboots than bad ones, at least from what I played. In fact many of them were pretty damn awesome:

  • Mortal Kombat
  • Tomb Raider
  • Shadow Warrior
  • Rise of the Triad
  • Deus Ex: HR
  • Xcom: Enemy Unknown
  • Rayman: Origins

Only time will tell though.
 
It's gone the easy button route ....... no choice is a lose for me. I probably won't even borrow this game purely because of it being that linear, pssssssh.
 
I'm still debating about a pre-order for this, it looks great but I also want to see how well it scores first.

Yeah I think you'd be best waiting for the scores. I feel like this is going to be one of those games that looks quite good in the promo media but come release it gets pretty bad reviews.

Is it bad that I completely forgot about those. :o

As for tomb raider that was a let down for me.

Yeah I concur with that thus far; and we've all learnt how much things can change between promo and release
