Gameplay that tugs at the heartstrings

The games that comes to mind are The Last of Us, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, Final Fantasy X & X-2. These games had above average storylines which really allowed you to connect to the characters and immerse yourself in their lives, not to mention all these games really tugged at your heartstrings towards the end of them. Amazing titles.

Ni no Kuni dont wanna spoil people but it has some moments in it that are tear jerkers especially for those people that has lost a parent suddenly.

For me it had to be Diablo III...I was to crying at first, then I got angry and then I was even found laughing maniacally in a corner later. Error 37 - such a powerful mechanic.

Brothers was okay, but To The Moon had a much bigger affect on me.

Agreed, I freakin' cried like a baby. Such a sad moment when you realise the significance of the moon. Beautiful and yet troubling and sad story. The humour was also really great.

An aside - for those who have and played To the Moon an update on steam would have added a special 20min holiday episode to the game - you can find it in SteamApps\common\To the Moon\To the Moon\SigCorp - Holiday Special (Bonus Game)

I haven't played it yet, just jogged my memory now.

Limbo was another game that evoked some emotion in me. It was very emotive in it's subdued nature.

And how could I forget Braid. That game was a cyclic tale which conveyed a deeper meaning through creative use of the gameplay mechanics.

Well Max Payne 3 Opening scene was kinda hectic for me if you played the first 2 and you watched the movie(i know has nothing to do with the game)

But yeah it made me thing of all the past happenings in the max payne series

And of course another one was Medal of Honor Warfighter The death of Mother

The first Mafia game... It knocked me hard! Had to uninstall the game, simply seeing the shortcut made me depressed.

Modern Warfare 2 and 3 come to mind as well, especially 3, not to forget Gears of War 3.

Max Payne 3 is the one of the few games that made you feel guilty for playing it. What right do you have to go tearing through people's homes leaving a trail of corpses only to claim you are cleansing the area in blood???

Yeah that game was too impacting

What? You can't be serious.

I finished Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on New Years Eve ... wrong day to finish that game!
I haven't felt that much emotion whilst playing a game in years.
I also made this face upon completing the Sylph storyline in FFXIV:ARR.
Wish I was able to play Ni no Kuni and Journey!(<--- No console)
