Speaking in general, how is the Jo'burg traffic at about 5pm on a Friday?
I'm coming up there on Friday and I'll be hitting the N3 eastern bypass going past Linksfield, Marlboro etc up to North Gate at about 5:00 - 5:30 pm.

The problem with number three is that he is better qualified than I, but I am more up to date in IT. He got his degrees in the early 80's and never really moved on from that point. The shouting is still BS though. Not something I'm particularly keen on in the workplace...

As for number three, I just had to lol @ the comment about wanting to FTP a flatfile. Does he come from the banking industry in the 80s? :p

Dude, you are going to suffer going on the highway that time of day. Friday might be slightly better because a lot of people leave work a bit earlier, but still...

You'll probably have better luck going round the south on the N12 past Alberton, then get on the N1 North, and get off at Beyers Naude. You'll still hit a lot of traffic, but it should be better than round the North.

Hi, my name is Mister 44 and I'd like to take a moment to have a word with all the men in TK today, to translate the above message from fem-talk to men-talk.
Wenzdayz will in fact turn 30. Pointing out to her that 30 is not on the wrong side of 29, but have already kicked a bucket of sand in the eyes of 29 and left it behind, blinded and alone would be a BAD IDEA. Just as it would be a BAD IDEA to point out that when you turn 30, you don't enter your 30th year of life, you have it already done and dusted.
As with most woman, Wenz will now remain "on the wrong side of 29" till her 50th birthday at which stage she'll move on to "the wrong side of 35".
Also, please note the absense of the word "birthday" in her original message. The reason for this is simple: one does not name the enemy. Again, pointing out that aging is battle no man or woman can win (without expensive cheat codes) is a BAD IDEA.

yes what Matt said... form the north you will be hitting all the rivonia and william nicol traffic which is bad until about 8-ish if its not close to pay day...

I took the N14 from Roodepoort to Pretoria last week. It's pretty much the same traffic as usual. Thank god we still have that road

Thanks for the tip. I was considering that exact route as an alternative.

I would go around the other way on the N12 and then the N1. Go off at Malibongwe.

LOL Mr 44 - not all of us has that issue :P I mean Im turning 35 this year and not ashamed of it . . . Just accepted it and moved on :P

Indeed I am. I'm also familiar with the rage evoked when modern devs are asked to maintain banking systems from the 80s :p

In other news, got a job offer from a consulting firm. Salary increase over current is pretty pathetic, though, so I'm gonna stick where I am for now.
