I have shin splints I was using cheap running shoes but my mom got me some really nice shoes now that support my feet. Took them for a test run yesterday was awesome.

Quality running shoes are never a wasted investment.

Other things worth investing in - high quality ear protection (for shooting), high quality every-day sunglasses, and high-quality impact-resistant glasses (for shooting/DIY work).
