What's missing from the PS4?

When I saw this thread now, I wanted to add something to my previous statement similar to yours now. Great minds think alike!

The PS4 is nothing more than just a gaming machine now, eventually after firmware updates it should turn into a media centre.
 
I can't understand the issue regarding the light on the controller, it does not bother me one bit. I actually like it in a game like Killzone where it shows you your health.

No, that should never happen. The PS4 is perfectly fine as it is and should remain a gaming console only. Sony made the right choice when deciding to go back their roots and focus on games and the gamer.

What about the exclusion of something as basic as a download pause button?
I think its utterly stupid to exclude something like that, when a lot of people buy digital games in this day and age.

Agreed, I don't care about media centre capabilities at all. Have my PS3 and a smart tv that already does more than enough ,as expected :)

Yeah, it's annoying but it's not the end of the world. You can kind of pause everything by switching the console off and the download(s) will resume when you switch it on again. I wouldn't mind the option to pause individual downloads though, but that does not really have anything to do with media, which is the only thing I said it doesn't need.

I hear you, but I dont want my PS3 to be a necessary addition to my set up once i get a PS4... The PS4 is supposed to replace the PS3, not work in conjunction with it...

Question for you mate, when the console is downloading and you want to play a multiplayer game (Not even sure if there are any at the moment) won't that affect the online experience, causing latency issues because the console is downloading?

If its a stupid question forgive me lol but I don't plan on buying a next gen console until the next revision.

Yip true. I do all media streaming through the smart tv. PS3 is merely just for gaming and some bluray movies

There is no such thing as a stupid question. In my experience no, it does not affect the multiplayer experience. I was busy downloading NBA2K14 (which is a 42GB initial download) and I was playing Killzone online perfectly fine without any latency issues. I guess it depends on your line speed, but I do think the PS4 might prioritise the bandwidth to the game as well.

Ok awesome, it would make sense for it to prioritize the bandwidth for gaming.
I guess then its not such a bad thing but a pause download button is def a must.
 
For the most part the missing features aren't really a surprise considering their prioritization of the gaming abilities of the console. However the lack of download pause isn't even remotely cool. Hopefully it gets patched into the PS4 at a later date.

I find this amazing actually if true. On the old consoles if I have my phone on wifi i will rubber band lag like crazy at times. I know they're different devices but if they've been clever enough to only download during traffic lulls or something similar thats a cool feature.
 
Does it not pause the download automatically when you play a game perhaps?

Can anyone confirm that the DL percentage increases while playing a game?
 
Yeah anything software/firmware related can be fixed and will probably be added at a later stage. In fact it looks like everything here can be implemented at a later stage with updates.
 
I'm willing to bet that despite the minor/major issues eveyone in this thread would be glad to win the PS4 in the current comp!
