I had a great arena match as a warrior yesterday. I played Armorsmith on the first round with the coin, then another minion I can't remember on round two. My opponent promptly took out my minion. Round three I played another Armorsmith and another small minion. My opponent focused on the small minion, and did 1 dmg to the first Armorsmith. Round four I played my Chillwind Yeti :D. After another two or three decent sized minions, and bad focus from my opponent, I was on 30 health with 18 armour, while my opponent was down to 12!! :D Beatdown decks ftw!

I'm crafting Armorsmith soon.. :D

I'm doing okay in constructed, but my arena runs suck :(

I took a Rogue for an Arena run yesterday, got kicked out at 0-3 :/

Just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong :/

Yeah, arena is a totally different beast, and you are sometime at the mercy of the RNG. My best was a lucky 5-3 with a mage, which was by far my strongest class at the time.

I've taken to making my picks very slowly, seriously contemplating each and every card and how it might fit in my deck. It's tedious, and barely shows an improvement, but it does help.

You generally get at least an Expert Pack to open, and then some random bits of either dust or gold, and sometimes, quite irritatingly, a card. Yeah a card. Often times it's a bloody common too.
The rewards for Arena can be quite nice, but for them to be *nice*-nice, you need to win at least 2 or 3 games, then you start getting 3 reward boxes to open.

Arena is very much worth it for me: Winning at least 3 times means you generally get your gold's worth, you pay 150gp for the Arena Ticket, and then get 1x Pack (100gp worth) and then gold and/or dust worth about 50gp-ish, and you got to play a bunch of Arena games (increasing skill), with a possibly a bunch of cards that you'll likely never own :-) (Ragnaros! Love that card...)
 
I don't know if rewards were tweaked again, but after the last major overhaul, some enterprising statisticians did this.

In short, the arena rewards pick up quite well from 6-3 onwards, you need 7 wins to score enough gold to play again immediately, and at 4 wins you get more rewards (gold plus a card pack) than the entry of 150G cost you.

I've been watching all of TotalBiscuit's arena run youtube videos since the beginning, he explains his decision making for each of the cards that he chooses, and reasons why he's not choosing others. Sometimes his reason is "Ah hell, Mad Bombe is a fun card, let's take that, these other two cards are rubbish anyway", but other times it's "Well, we've already taken two Raging Worgens, and that other card that has an Enrage ability, so taking Mad Bomber will allow us a chance to enrage our minions and get that benefit". I find hearing other people's opinions on why certain cards are chosen definitely helps me choose better too, like remembering to take an Elven Archer or two, even though they are weenie, when you've chosen Enrage minions.

He even has a few constructed runs with a "27 Legendary" deck. :-) Lots of fun to watch, especially when he pulls a Turn 5 Deathwing using an Alarm-o-bot, then a second Deathwing on Turn 6 with a Faceless Manipulator. I can just imagine his opponent furiously taking screenshots and calling his friends over to look. :-)

i feel your pain bro! i was up against a Priest who just kept increasing health of his minions and draw cards every time they were healed. when he killed me, his character was at full health :cry:

Some of the Priest decks are brutal... Also got owned so hard by a priest last night...

Had a good first run in the arena, won my first 3 games, then got pumped 3 in a row... Got a pack of cards and about 80 gold... :D

Thanks for the links, will definitely start watching some streams as well, i've watched few games from Moldran, he has been doing very well in Arenas
 
I am loving this game so much! And its cool that they give you challenges to make gold so you dont HAVE to pay for shit...

Built my first custom deck with the Hunter, With all the boosts you can give your minions i end up with about five 9-9 beasts to walk over people with :p

Only problem is if they have a rush deck... Its pretty difficult for me early game with my deck...
 
oh man, i had an EPIC win last night, courtesy of some very poor decisions by my opponent. he had a hunter deck and i had priest. he had super buffed his beasts and beaten me down to 1 health. i had only survived thanks to healing +2 the previous turn, but his oversight in attacking one of my minions instead of me directly.

i was then able to cast Gurubashi :

Like a BAWS! well played, so you switched to Priest now? I turned a game with Mind Control last night, were waiting whole game for the guy to throw out his big guns as he kept on destroying every minion I put on the table, as soos as he played his 7/7 i made it my own and pwned his ass :D

Sadly Hiro, after the spanking you gave me, my PC actually died. Won't be around for a while. :(
I really miss this game, guess I'll just have to watch TB playing it and stick to my consoles.
 
Geez, i played my 1st rounds of arena last night, 1st of was a 0/3 beating i received with a hunter and then i used my druid for my second run.
Currently i'm on 0-2.... i just could not lose anymore last night :(

Its so much more difficult than playing against others outside of arena.
