Looks like it should be 4.55. I went to the Japanese page in the link, let Chrome translate it, and

About 4.55 update PlayStation ® 3 system software version to [2014.02.06]

Yeah every time I want to go online (which I admit is not all that often) on my PS3 I tend to find yet another update that is required before I can sign on. I guess I understand the reasoning behind it when you want to access the PSN store and all of that but if you just want a quick shot at GTA online or something (maybe even a quick go at your buddies scores in SSX) then it tends to be quite a pain.
 
Good thing I saw it before I left the office. Downloading it from here now, because it is 195MB (which I can do at home, but why would I, if I can just do it from here). Will install it with a memory stick.

Oh 195MB isn't too bad. And if I don't use the PS tonight, it'll download in the morning automatically anyway
 
Cool! Came home and turned on my ps3 and it says downloaded update 4.55. Go to system settings to install it. Auto update is awesome

Dammit...I guess that means I don't have to switch her one for a while yet (oddly enough I've been having more fun with SSX 3 on my PC emulator lately). I have however ordered some special el cheapos that should arrive within the next week or so - will be interesting to see if I can install them 'on the quiet'...will report back when I know more.
 
Well at least it's not too big...sigh.

I hate when I put on my console then up pops a message saying I MUST update the firmware...total buzzkill.
 
At least they still looking after the PS3 users... the updates are usually quite small so im not to fazed....
 
I would hang onto it for a bit.... dont be too hasty, the PS4 is in need of a few updates to get it to do some pretty simple things the ps3 does...

I am preaching to the choir here I know your well aware....

True but I only play games on my PS3, never did anything else like media streaming etc as I do that with my smart tv.
 
So downloading the update manually on a flash drive was futile...when I got home, the little guy downloaded it automagically.
