Official Battlefield 4 Thread

I find its difficult to adjust though. Core you are constantly spotting people, and you end up relying on that mechanism heavily. Or you're so used to being in a tank and getting repaired in core whilst still moving the tank a bit, HC you end up roadkilling your mate by accident.
I almost find you need to fully commit to one mode, either HC or Core for example, otherwise they're too different at times.

Only adjustment I need to make when switching to Core is how long to hold down the trigger :p This doesn't get affected when switching back to HC. I always spot, no matter the mode, it's a healthy habit and I'll often hit the map key to see interesting spot calls.

I love HC. Which is why I'm miffed that the UE Hardcore servers no longer show on my server browser. I find "normal" mode to be too easy at times.

when searching for servers, leave everything blank apart from region and player health. Make sure Player health reflects 1 -60 and you'll be show all the HC servers for your chosen region.

We'll have a new server end of the month Neo were switching from 16 to 32 and the conversion from one acc to another so just hold tight i'll drop you an inv

Define "too easy"? Are you going 50-1 every game or something?

By "too easy" I am referring to the ability to have complete situational awareness which is completely unrealistic in real-life combat. Sure, you can spot someone, but that should be for a brief moment. Not minutes. Shooting someone in the face with a 12gauge shotgun carrying slug rounds is also a bit lame. That should be 1-2 shots - MAX.

Overall, I find that playing HC sharpens my skills a lot more and I'm much more self-aware of where I'm going and who I'm shooting at. Then, when I play on the normal servers, it's almost like have some sort of cheat mode active. Sure, normal mode is still hard (like I said, if you can't kill someone with 5 shots using a shotgun at close range, it will be hard), but it's not difficult for the right reasons. That's where HC makes up for it.

I am with neo on this, HC is where all the skill lies unless you camp.
Unfortunately BF4 isn't geared to making you a better gamer, its a fun game but its easy to pick up and be good at it, hardcore makes it a little more challenging especially when your playing TD on a smaller map, that's where all the action and fun is at.

Ironically I found it extremely difficult to pick up, which is why I stopped playing it completely. I basically spawn and die before I can even see an enemy, never mind trying to shoot at them. Not my idea of fun. Just not my type of game I guess.

I like HC more than normal because at least 90% of the time when you shoot someone you kill them on normal it doesn't work that way and with the mini map gone on HC it makes it a bit more challenging.

Yeah look if your not into multiplayer FPS then BF4 isn't the game for you, if you are new to it I would recommend sticking to TDM servers with no vehicles for a while bud, once you get used to the gun mechanics and shit hit box then try jam conquest (Most boring mode ever) lol

Exactly, HC is where the fun is at...Gets you a little bit on edge with no mini map and no hud, makes it feel like a different game...Just wish it was a little bit faster.

Thanks, but I'll rather just play Loadout, much more fun for me. :D

I'm not sure we can ever just say one is easier than the other, or one takes more 'skill' than the other either. I get where you're coming from though. They make it harder by taking away some of the situation awareness tools, however, they make it way easier to kill someone.
It could also be argued in core you need more skill to master the gun mechanics more (more bullets on the target for a kill not just a single burst), or to get yourself in a position where you can finish a guy off without getting marked yourself. Whats the point of a suppressor in HC? The list can go on.

And to die... It's also easier to kill yourself and Team mates, which quickly removes Rambo Tactics and nade spamming.

...or to get yourself in a position where you can finish a guy off without getting marked yourself.

Nobody does this, ever. Maybe damn good campers.

It suppresses the sound :p You tend to rely a lot more on sound in HC.

Not really...still get nade spammed - this time by your own team mates too.

Thats just silly. Of course people (skilled players) do it.

Fair enough. I never play with a headset so I dont get any of that surround sound goodness.

A lot less of those shenanigans in HC. Fact.

So, for every kill you attempt, you tactically position yourself in an inconspicuous position where you can't be spotted? Please record this gameplay. I'm pretty skilled and don't dive behind a rock before taking a shot at a guy in the road with his back to me for e.g. I also don't take cover to avoid being spotted, mostly to avoid being shot.

Well i play on 5.1 and it has helped me a lot specially with people coming from behind to try and knife you. but the think is with silencers it takes a lot of the hit away from the gun

For all those who prefer HC mode - I challenge you to play Red Orchestra 2 on one of the realistic servers where the only thing telling you who is an enemy and who is an ally is the slightly different colour uniform and the fact the Russians run carrying their gun in both hands and the Germans run carrying it in one hand.

That sounds really fun! I'd love to play a game like that, no hud or information to help you out with ammo, scores, etc. just you and a person in front of you who may or may not be the enemy :D
