Well that was a fun altercation

My story is a bit shorter.

Long ago, I had a touch more brandy than I probably should've at The Winston (one of Durban's alternative pubs). I went outside for a breath of fresh air and encountered a girlfriend I hadn't seen for years, sitting on a low wall with some acquaintences. As she was telling me how her mother was murdered and hung during a robbery, an unknown white male sitting next to her started trying to get my attention. Obviously, I ignored him (my friend was basically telling me of her mother's demise), but he persisted. Eventually, after realising that mere words weren't doing the trick, he yelled, "HEY BITCH!" and grabbed at my leg. My knee-jerk reaction was to kick him square in the shin with my steel-toed New Rocks. He fell off the wall and went fetal on the sidewalk. Thankfully, my fiance and a mate rounded the corner as it happened and steered me away from the scene, preventing further escalation. The moral of the story is that: R3 000 New Rocks are more effective than R7 000 sunglasses.

:p

Tough audience.... Binary shares something that was concerning and all most of you can focus on is the cost of his glasses. Real empathy on show here!

My final sentence was an attempt at humour (albeit a poor one). I was merely trying to illustrate that I had a similar experience (didn't know the guy from Adam), but unlike him, took the 'low road' (or should I say, low blow!) ;) I do empathise. I have had many close calls myself (at home during house breaking, attempted mugging, attempted rape by a cab driver etc.), many of them in broad daylight. It's generally a good idea to avoid walking anywhere these days.

Those are some awesome looking shoes!

As 'the scene' progressed, I preferred wearing my Swears (they complimented the Cyberdog wardrobe), but I still have my New Rocks in my cupboard as they are a Horcrux of crazy days. Apologies for the unintentional derail; back OT. ;)

Those new rocks are very nice by the way, Would love a similar pair but currently would have no wear to really wear them to, I really need to move.

mmm or maybe i should get some and next time someone kicks me kick them back.........in the chest :P

o well it didn't end badly so I suppose it ended well.

I was also thinking this

Just do what I do, try and ignore them and say "Wo bu shuo yingyu", that normally gets them off your back since they get so confused

HAH! Yeah, look, my intention was not to minimise your negative experience. I was just trying to shed some humour on the topic. I'm glad that, unlike me, you did not respond with violence because that's not a smart reaction (especially when the unknown asshats may be armed). Walking away is the best thing you could've done. These days I've learned to exude an 'aura of rage' when I'm out in public. It is effective in that it makes me completely unapproachable to those I don't want to be approached by. Obviously I wouldn't behave this way at, say, RAGE or any other event where most of the strangers are (what my friends and I like to call) 'our team'. :)
