Don't know how they can pic someone that small to be the thing though and (not racist) a black johnny storm how does that fall into the picture :p

Never really was a fan of the fantastic 4. But also in the avengers nick furry was white in the comics :p(not being racist.)

Not the Nick Fury the character was based on, though..

The choice of Johnny Storm's actor does surprise me though, since The Invisible Woman and The Human Torch are siblings.. Wonder how they'll address that.

I think, as with all the new reboots of these movies, they are possibly just going for the acting skills of these individuals rather than the looks and how it relates to the looks of the guys in the comics.

616 Nick Fury is white. The Avengers comic that the movie is based on is from the Ultimate universe, where Fury is black.

Very odd choices, but from what I've seen of them they're all rather good actors. Perhaps they're just doing their best to differentiate the reboot from the previous 2 Fantastic Four films as it wasn't that long ago.

politically correct??? Black Guy?

This.

Just like Image turned Spawn into a white dude, other companies change the race of others, Spider-man, Nick Fury, etc. Heck, now some of the characters are secretly gay. It's stupid. When a character is of a certain ethnicity, keep him that way. I was extremely pissed that they killed of Al Simmons and brought in a white dude to try and appeal to middle America a bit more due to Spawns diminishing returns.

Johnny Storm isn't black. Don't make him black now to have your token in the cast. It's an insult.

They could pull it off as one of them being adopted. Personally though, I find Michael B. Jordan to be a very average actor. My biggest worry really is Kate Mara, I've never found her characters convincing, but in truth don't watch everything she's in. Miles Teller though, he could be perfect for Mr. Fantastic!

I quite like the younger cast, it might be a smart approach to start preparing for the New Avengers that might lead the series in the future.

I would have to disagree with that; whilst I would never go as far as saying he is one of the "greats" he is still a very good actor.

Like did you see him in Fruitvale Station?

Times have changed. When they cast for a movie now I don't the ethnicity is what matters as much as if the actor can put forth the most true depiction of their character as possible.

There is a big difference between one mask donning character dying and another character taking up said mask, (like what happened with Al Simmons and Peter Parker) and just changing for the sake of it. We've seen it before, a lot, Ant-Man immediately comes to mind. And there had been gay characters, secret and openly, since the 80's. Northstar was the first openly gay Marvel character, IIRC and Colossus being another noteable gay character.

The reasoning behind Fury's reboot (which was an entire Marvel universe reboot, btw, not just one character changing) was quite simple. They wanted to model him on some Badass (tm), and chose Sam Jackson. The fact that the most Badass (tm) person they could think of was black just didn't matter.

^ this. Sometimes you want a stereotypical actor for a stereotypical role and race doesn't matter

It urkes me to no end.

Whethere the character is 'new' or just all of a sudden changed skin color, it doesn't matter. It's a tactic in modern age comics that are there to appease the people who cannot accept a character for who they were.

But hey, I gave up on the industry when the publishing houses gave up on their artists. :) Let them do whatever they can to rake in those dollars. Even if it is going against the core of a character.
