Just signed up at afrihost

i have an Afrihost mobile and adsl account. the mobile account works perfectly for online gaming, well obviously you must be in an area with LTE coverage

I canceled my Openweb account, it's pathetic!

Waiting for the 55 days "calendar month" before I order my Afrihost account. Cannot wait.

Any1 have the 2MB line with Afrihost?I want to know if it's decent for online play.

I need to switch over to a new ISP next week as I cancelled my Telkom account.

I want to go for the 50gig capped account 2MB line as that's how much I can afford.

2Meg is fine for most games, only place I really notice issues is some MMO games where there are loads of people the traffic gets bit ridiculous (so latency starts shooting up if you teleport in)

I have a 2MB line from Afrihost and it is awesome for gaming, pings range from 5 to 50. I have uncapped and unfortunately they started shaping the P2P downloads to about 7% of actual download speed.

Wow, thats quite bad, is it 24/7 or only during business hours?

Whenever the network is "busy".

During the day it's busy because "peak business hours" reasons. At night it's busy because everyone is downloading anyway :P

Still, a great solution is to have a multithread dl manager like IDM and use a seedbox like justseed or something. Get full line speed all the time.

Every time I have downloaded recently it did not go above a few kb/s.

There is, however, a magical Turbocharge!! button, which grants you 360 minutes of unlimited speed!! (up to your *actual* download speed) every month.

Wait, wait, wait... Please can you repeat that in layman's terms and also step by step? :D

EDIT: Just so you guys know, my monthly usage is just less that 60 gigs, so I am definitely not being shaped due to over usage. In fact, I might be switching to capped if it continues like this...

Wow, and here I thought I was getting ripped off with ~120 Gb's a month and being shaped from 9am to 8pm.

I guys,

What is the best ISP to have for playing COD or Battlefield?

It's for home use and I don't need allot of cap, I can download at work if I want something.

thx

Afrihost/Webafrica and surprisingly Telkom have good latency. I'd go for either an Afrihost or Webafrica capped account in your situation.
