What's left to save after cheerleaders and the world?

During NBC's airing of the Winter Olympics on Saturday, the network surprised viewers with a teaser for Heroes Reborn.

Set to air in 2015, Reborn will be a 13-episode miniseries featuring a stand-alone arc. It is worth noting that the first Heroes series was originally planned as having a different stand-alone story arc each season. However, those who watched the 2006-2010 run will remember that the show ended up following the first season characters throughout its lifespan.

Though no story details have been revealed, we do know that creator Tim Kring will return to executive produce the miniseries. Also, a digital series will debut prior to Reborn to introduce the main characters.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke in a statement. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

Ooo nice! I only ever watched the first two seasons of Heroes for some reason. It was a great show though and I'd love to watch this.

Because after that it got really bad? I think I stopped watching early season 3. Might be nice though with new characters though, will give the first episode a watch and take it from there

I also stopped at season 2 with the original series as it became a bit meh, but will definitely check this out when it airs.

Season 1 was BRILLIANT! i was watching it when i got my first xbox. i needed a gamertag and the first name that popped into my head was "Nakamura HIRO" :D

Aw man thats awesome! I must admit the only thing i thought about when i first read ur nick was Hiro Nakamura! Save the Cheer leader! Save the World!

Those of you that stopped at season 2 did yourselves such a favor... Season 3 is where it really started down hill... Season 4... The carnival... omg... What a waste of time... I thought season 2 was shit, but thought maybe they would bring it back to season 1 awesomeness in season 3... I was disappoint...

In saying all that though, im really keen on a new Hero's series... They just musnt make AWESOME characters like Peter, than Nerf them to death and make them stupid

I really dont know if heroes can actually recover from the stuff up it became i loved that show and then it just went all downhill

they need to recapture the magic of Season 1. it had this exciting mystery and wonder about it, as they unveiled each person's super powers. but not sure how they can tap into that again

I also stopped watching after the 3rd or so episode of season 3 it's like they lost focus and ran out of ideas for the series. It's like the actors all lost faith in their work in the third season and they just wanted to get it done with and move on don't know if i should be hyped about this or neutral and see what it turns out to be

Yeah; you immediately got a sense in season 2 that some Executive Meddling took place that changed the direction of the show. Hopefully this will essentially be something new and unseen and yet flavoured like season 1
