Will you be laying hands on Thief?

I'll be honest, I've heard too much about the title that leans toward the bad side of news to make me want it with all my heart anymore. I'll let others do the grunt work and see what their views are before contemplating this.

I'm sure you've played the previous instalments of Thief?

This. I was a fan of the old games but this one is just giving me bad vibes for some reason. The lack of good promotion is worrying.

There was something I said some time ago regarding a game that was hyped to be this spectacular thing, then it failed.

I think it was something a long the lines of it not being a bad a bad thing that a game isn't being promoted well. Because then they are not overselling the game, thus less less disappoint when we actually get to play it.

I for one, am pretty damn sure (bad reviews or not) that I am going to enjoy it.

Then...

You must get it! :D

That's a very dangerous attitude to have, and it's exactly what the publishers want. This may very well be the next Colonial Marines for all we know. Not waiting for reviews is extremely risky, and quite stupid in my opinion.

Exactly people put to much faith in reviews. These days if a game does not get 85+ on Metacritic it is bad.

Regardless of the reviews, Thief has been one of my all time favourites. If its bad, its bad. If its good, its good. I don't have this kind of attitude towards all the games, only the ones I truly love(d) to play.

I agree you shouldn't base your purchases on hype/reviews/promotion etc, but like I said, the game just gives me bad vibes and my instincts are usually right when it comes to whether or not I'll be satisfied with the game. So I'm going to hold off and see what other users have to say about the game.

Ask any Dungeon Keeper or Syndicate fan how they feel about that statement.

I can relate to this reasoning, as I would do exactly the same for Tomb Raider.

Hey, if you have the money to waste on games, whether they're bad or not, go for it. I don't throw money at stupid crap. Hell, I won't even waste bandwidth on pirating stupid crap.

Actually i won't bother with thief, simply because it's not my type of game as i SUCK terribly with stealth games, same goes for AC

Totally agree with this. I've been burned enough by stupid crap, I learned my lesson thoroughly.
