DayZ Standalone pre-Alpha - Finally here

Its final. 95% of South African DayZ players are all $@#&'s. I don't see myself playing on any of our local server again. It use to be only one or two shoot on sight moron running around. Last night I ran in a group of 11 just running round guns blazing shooting everything in sight. T_T

Yeah its a tough one, Dayz does not allow server rentals of servers to have 30 players less. But a work around is perhaps they will implement something like the Dayz RP guys, you have to register your character and backround, if you are chosen you are white listed on the server (allowing you to connect) and if you dont abide by the rules (i.e. no shooting on site), if you have proof and the admins agree that your proof is valid, said offender will be blacklisted and removed from registration.

I just started to play on the UK servers again. I do not see myself playing on any South African servers any time soon.

Its like a epidemic. New players get killed by idiots, they then restart the game and they feel they can't trust anyone so they become like that, rinse and repeat.

I think (from my limited experience of the game so far) that part of the reason people aren't helping each other out as much is (in addition to the bloodlust and distrust) is that the world isn't dangerous enough. You're not in enough danger all the time for it to be necessary to team up with randoms. I may be way off on this though

This might sound like a bit of a dick comment, but if you're dying it's because you're not playing well enough. I survive the ZA servers just fine by avoiding confrontations. Put things in perspective a bit. It's a 300 square kilometer map with a maximum of 50 players. Why are you finding it so hard to survive?

Golden rule is to get off the coast asap, stick to inland towns and avoid the most popular military installations. The military base beneath Zelengorsk is an excellent place to get military gear and most players never go there. The new town at Guba Bay is also an excellent place for getting new gear and supplies, because nobody ever goes there. The landscape is dotted with new loot-spawning buildings nowadays. We've never had it this good in DayZ. It's easier to survive than ever before.

Genuine question, but where are you guys going that you get shot so often? The only times I get shot is when I go looking for trouble.

One problem at this point is that fresh spawns actually pose a genuine threat to geared players. Sometimes when you take a hit to the head you get knocked unconscious. Me and a few buddies were holding up a guy the other day and he knocked one of us unconscious. If you're a well-geared player and you're playing alone, that's a problem because it gives him enough time to take your stuff and kill you.

When I encounter bambis alone I ask them to keep their distance. If they don't, then I'm sorry but I'm going to kill them.

You talk easily but there are groups of guys running around on all the servers and all they do is hunt and kill other players, It usually happens just after spawning, somehow the game spawns you close to where other people are and they literally sit and wait for new players. I ran into a group of 11 guys, they didn't see me but I saw them picking off 2 other players for no reason, other guys were unarmed and had nothing of value, they just did it for fun. Unfortunately for them I have a M4A1 with a shit load of ammo, Ran up the tower and took out 4 of them, they didn't know where I was shooting from so they all disconnected after the 4th one dropped, bunch of pussies. 1 guy taking out 4 of their heavily armed ass no problem and then the rest just dc'd...lol

I lost count how many times I got killed after just spawning into the game, and it really becomes frustrating after awhile, so I joined the sever just after the update when no one was on and I went gear hunting, now I am fully kitted I am not intimidated by groups of bitches like the guys I mentioned earlier.

Bottom Line:

The game is awesome, its a lot of fun, but people like that ruin the game for most new players.

Well, look at it this way, when you get shot as a new spawn, what do you lose? 2 minutes of progress? I'd much rather get shot as a new spawn then after I spent 2 hours scavenging for supplies.

I've been playing DayZ since after it went big in 2012 (circa May/June) and as long as I can remember, people have been claiming that KOS players are ruining the game and that it's unplayable because of it. My opinion? DayZ has always been plagued with this issue and it hasn't ruined the game yet.

I just don't see the point in getting angry over something that's been happening for as long as the game has existed. Wherever you spawn, the next town is never more than 10 minutes of running away. KOS players are assholes, but they're really not hard to avoid. For a new player they might be, but that's just part of the learning curve.

I don't really know what to say. Welcome to DayZ, I guess? This is how it's always been, this is how it will always be.

I also played the original and I've been playing this since the alpha was sold on steam and again it is a great game. The thing that gets to people, they spend $30 on a game that is no where near complete which is fine they understood that when they bought it, but then they spawn in the game, finally get some gear, maybe a backpack and some food and boom they die. Then they ah it was just a fluke, the map is huge and it won't happen again, 40min later same shit happens and they eventually rage quit and they don't return or complain non stop on forums.

How utterly useless are you in real life if all you do is kill new players that just started out, that paid for the game just like you did and you are now ruining it for them because you get some sadistic pleasure out of doing that.

My DayZ experience has generally been ok, I have had my fair share of assholes kill me for no good reason, I then stopped playing and only started again one day when the servers were completely empty and only then did I manage to survive and get to where I am now.

Most people can only play games when they get home at night, when the servers are packed, so the chances of getting killed by some retard is unfortunately really high.

To each their own, but people complaining have a right to complain.

I don't know. I guess they have a right to complain, because the learning curve is pretty steep at first, but getting shot as a freshie is part of learning the game after all. If that makes someone ragequit, then DayZ probably wasn't for them anyway.

Once you get the hang of the game it becomes really easy to avoid bambi killers. It just takes a bit of learning the ropes.

The problem is not that I got killed the problem is that I am got killed about 15 times in a row before I even had a chance to make it off the beach. Sorry but that is not me not being able to play due to lack of skill. I have been playing the MOD for years on EU servers and for the past few days I have been playing the stand alone on EU server and I have only died once.

I love the game and I have never rage quit the game. The same evening I got spawn rapped I did not even quit, I just swapped to another server.

I just want the world to become more dangerous, PvE must be ridiculously OP to force people to not just easily fire and un-suppressed weapon and generally lean towards teaming up as opposed to KOS.

That and a bit more drive in longevity. After I'm kitted out, I lose interest.

Aye, I can echo what Armitag3 is saying. I just don't play on the ZA servers, I predominantly play on the UK servers where the ping is sub-200ms and the guys aren't out to KoS, they'll rob you sure but they don't hunt players.

True that they need to release that 4000 zombies they where talking about. ^_^

I've recently joined a international role play server, unfortunately they can't strictly enforce rules yet, but the groundwork is all there so when it's ready it should be epic. I have a character - backstory and with like minded people on the server - there is less chance of being shot for fuck all reason when all you have is the shirt on your back!

My experiences have been a mix of good and bad. I tend to avoid anyone wearing a clown or gas mask (nothing good comes from someone wearing a mask...) and I will always try and get the upper hand on someone with being super cautious and get a dialogue going. I'm still waiting for a hold up hostage situation, I never get to use my handcuffs :(

Just been running around on a server for my first time, I've been running for at least 15 minutes and I can't find anything! Haha even seeing a zombie would make me happy!

Depends where you're running.. but yeah.. its vrry difficult to find a zombie when you want one

The thing that scares me the most about zombies is the lag + phasing through walls + hitboxes which seem to be 10 meters off. When all those things are working, zombies are a breeze :) A zombie once pushed me through a wall to the outside when I was fighting him! :wtf:
