Thief reviews rolling in...you may want to cancel that pre-order

Cancel pre order hell no cant wait. It is getting reasonable ratings ranging from 8 to 6 some of the coolest games in my opinion are the hidden gems thrown away by the gaming press.

It's not safe to pre-order games. The last game I pre-ordered was Diablo III. It's a shame to see Thief fail though. :(

Bullet. Dodged. Thank goodness I didn't pre order this!

Yeah, I pre-ordered it about a month ago, but canceled it the next day when I came to my senses. I'm still curious about it, but I think now I'll rather wait for a GOTY edition or a very deep discount.

I don't really see this as a failure. There are a couple of good reviews out there as well. I'm much more inclined to be interested in a game with such varying review scores. I'm also rather interested to see what I will think of this game, not being a fan of the franchise but having faith in the developer. If I had the money I would buy it on Friday, but I am getting Castlevania LoS 2 instead.

Yeah I cant wait for Castlvania Los 2 either and the Gaming press are also down on that game, play what you like not what other's tell you to like.

I still don't get why people pre-order stuff, but whatever. Anyway, there are some decent reviews of the game, so it's really a personal taste thing.

"Why pre-order when you know it will be in the next Steam sale? With your backlog it's not like you don't have anything to play in the meantime" - this is my gaming conscience, it works for pre-orders (not so much for bundles)

You get some decent Pre-Order goodies sometimes, the only reason I Pre-Order. Pretty sad about Thief, was expecting an amazing reboot.

I think I am onto something here...

Developers
Looking Glass Studios (1998-2000)
Ion Storm (2004)
Eidos Montréal (2009-present)

Thief 3 was "Okaaaay..." compared to the other 2 prior which were legendary.

*sigh* That sounds well beyond salvaging tbh. Maybe I'll buy it for 75% off on a Steam sale just because.

Stuff does tend to tank once a big studio takes over. They seem to think that improve graphics compensate for broken/boring game mechanics.

It seems though that most of the reviews are lackluster because of the legacy of thief games. i wonder if the response would be the same if the game a different title.

Even though they are owned by Square Enix I wouldn't really call Eidos Montreal a big studio since the only other AAA title they have developed was Deus Ex HR and they did an amazing job with that IMO.

yeah that was simply one of the best games I have played and I suspect it will be their Magnus Opus for all time

Maybe if they didn't call it thief people would be more open to it.

One cool thing I did see in the totalbiscuit video was the custom difficulty level.

"But the sense of historical place is immediately broken by guards that speak in a range of unlikely accents from Texan to Aussie"

LOL

Thank goodness I didn't pull the trigger on this. Will spend that cash of inFamous now.

:sad panda:
Was looking to a good stealth game. Oh well, will wait for bundle price :p

On matters of reboot, it seems like Tomb Raider was the only good reboot thus far
