DSTV, you DOOS of a corporation

i simply use my dad's SuperSportlogin (you need his DStv card number to create an account) and watch all my live sport on their website. its not HD, but its still MUCH better than the WALKA! also, it streams without fault on my 2mb adsl line. if you know someone with DStv premium, ask them if you can go this route!

Is there a Netflix "app" I have to install on ps3 to run Netflix? If so, does the PC also need to be on when I want to watch stuff on tv/ps3?

On the PS3, yes there is an app. It's on the US appstore so you'll need to create a new profile on your PS3 with some US address details (I used Beverley Hills 90210) and you connect using the DNS settings and IP from UnoTelly.

Then it lets you download Netflix. After downloaded, you can sign into your regular PS3 account and Netflix will be installed and ready to use.

On your PC, you watch Netflix through your browser.

Ok, so I hooked up Unotelly and Netflix with US account on PS3 and it works brilliantly :)

Quick question tho. What's with the unotelly "channel 1 and channel2" thing? Which one is my PC set to use? I made both US, but what if I wanted to watch another countries stuff in PC? Which channel country do I change?

Oh, and how does the service cope when used on Afrihost Uncapped? I'm worried about shaping and throttling

Because you're running Netflix through your PS3, it's seen as real-time streaming by your ISP (like gaming online) so you shouldn't have any issues.

And those extra channels are for UnoTelly. They have their own streaming service that lets you watch various TV shows and channels kind of like DSTV.

There are 2 things that I don't like about these DNS services:

1. It uses your credit card information on a subscription basis.
2. Services like Hulu and many others are clamping down on DNS services like UnoTelly because, according to their legislation, it's still a form of piracy and it's illegal to view their content in certain regions.

There are talks about NetFlix getting into South Africa, but we all know what happens when a service enters the 3rd World market. It's never as good as the original, and usually ends up more expensive to boot.

i don't mind forking out the 40-50 bucks for Unotelly and the 80-100 to Netflix. much rather do this than fund the monopolistic multichoice scumbags any further
