Gargantuan NOAH 'Arc' Proposed to New Orleans with Straight Face

An Archology is a really good idea actually. Been following Archology Architechture for years. Fascinating Stuff. My ideal shape is a giant pyramid but thats just me.

It does not look half-bad. Quite new-agey.

If UAE can do this stuff, why not New Orleans.

It is a bit ironic though - the whole ARC reference - considering New Orleans was one of the areas that was hit by Katrina, was it not?

That blog post is so short-sighted and sad it's unbelievable.

Cities within cities are not new concepts. Many have been proposed before...look at the giant Chinese pyramids. All are great in theory, but are also very expensive to build. One has to weight up the pro's and con's of such developments. For example, a few have been proposed as populations rise but land sizes stay the same. They're extremely high density and as a result are great for space-constrained cities.

I personally don't like the idea of them, as they propose a whole new concept of city that will be hard to adapt to. They've also got to take many things into account such as safety. Can you imagine a run-away fire breaking out in one of these things? The Chinese proposal could house 1 million people. Architecturally, the pyramid in question looks like something out of a sci-fi movie than a logical 21'st Century building. People complain about skyscrapers detracting historically from cities...can you imagine how they'll complain about this?

However, the day may come when we have to look into these things for one reason or another.

It Floats, so if global warming occures at the rate that they predict in the future the this type of building could actually be viable as they would float and not sink or get submerged.

I hear Ya. Me on the other hand i love the idea, if u can turn it into an eco system where waste is recycles, Solar Panels for Electricity and such its an extremely viable idea. As for safety issues, well that is something that will have to be addressed. Im not an Architect or a engineer or anything. I'm more a visionary that sees the "what is possible" of these structures.

Unfortunately the cost is insane :p The Chinese one would cost something like double the entire Chinese economy o_O

Ouch, that is rediculous. Maybe a joint venture with many countries helping aiding in funding and building the mega structure.. Instead of a single country, it could be a global research haven.

I would build one in the middle of the Atlantic, call it Neolantis and bread my own master race. :D Sorry the elitist in me comes out sometime. On second though the middle of the atlantic is a bad strategic setting.... especially if i want to rule the world.

JK's aside. id put it in the middle of the Atlantic and form a new nationality free place.
