Arcade VS Simulation. Why not both in one?

Why is it that franchises like Gran Turismo and Forza focus more on simulation games than doing both arcade and sim. Ofcourse we saw Forza straying away when it made Horizon but i don't see them ever making a game like that ever again. So i was playing with my imagination a bit and thought how great it would be if Forza or GT made a game featuring arcae and sim in one game. Just imagine how awsome the storyline would. Having the best of both worlds is innovative and rule breaking. And we all know that breaking the rules now and then is quite fun.

Ok the random storyline i thought of goes like this. There is this quiet 18 year old guy who always dreamt of being a pro-racing drive. Now he's going to college and is determined to fulfill his dream but has no cash for a car that is track day ready. He then gets a car(Honda Civic) as a present from his father but realises that the only way to get into pro-driving is by joining the local street racing club, so that when he wins races in his Civic he can save up money for a proper DTM car and drive on the race courses. By the time he gets enough money he can then start by getting licences (GT) to racing professionaly. But as time goes by he realises that he also fell in love with street racing and with the money he made from pro-driving, he goes back to doing street driving but also maintaining his rep. in racing Pro. Hows that for a storyline?

I'm bored already.

Just play different games if that's what you're after. There's really no need to have a game that has both arcade racing and simulation. If I want to play arcade racing, I fire up my PS2 and play Burnout 3 Takedown (still the best arcade racer out there). If I want to play a racing simulator, I fire up Forza or GT.

There are more than enough arcade racers that you really don't need racing sims to include arcade races as well. It's a waste of development resources.

I get your point. But if i could develop it, i would. As for burnout takedown, im quite sure that NFS would be more nicer to play.

Well each game caters for a different audience people who play forza and gt might night like arcade racers. As for story line lol you play a racer for that bwawaw

Mixing the 2 didn't work for these guys with sim/arcade racing style

This isn't like mixing peanut butter and chocolate, it's more like Chicken and Sushi where one is casual and the other has a strict formula.

So essentially TOCA Race Driver all over again?

I was gonna say almost every 2nd racing game.

I'm still curious how a guy who can't afford a car can now suddenly afford to get a racing license and get his car race legal (which can cost as much as the car itself)

Through the magic of micro-transactions.
