Warranty, replacement mainboard.

Ok, so as some of you may know, Hiro crashed my computer over a heated battle of Hearthstone. As such I have sent my mainboard, CPU and RAM to the mate I bought it from and he is testing it and what what.
The benefit is that it is still under warranty. But I have argued the subject that I no longer what that make of board as this is the third board to give me this same issue. He has since gotten back to me saying that they can swap the board out for something newer, but is it on par with what I had?

What's you guys opinions with the following;

Old Board (faulty) - MSI P67A-GD55

Replacement board - MSI B75A-G43

Basically wondering if they trying to short change me (the suppliers, not my mate). Is the new board a step up or down from what I had, at least it'll be a working board.
 
P67 has more usb 2 ports.
B75 has Pcie3 and a better/newer gen northbridge chip.

Lastly, I don't think the P67A is even still available.
Would say B75A does look nice :)

IF you gonna get a P67A, make sure its the B3 one :)
 
The main reason they are swapping it for you like this is because both these boards cost roughly the same price.
Nothing wrong with the B75A-G43 Gaming, very pretty board and decent bells and whistles. Just no overclocking on it.

Hey! Speaking of warranties and exchanges Joker.....:mad:
 
Got a phone call last night from my mate saying that even on the new board it's doing the same thing. So we suspect it's the CPU :(
So looks like I'm outa luck, I can't afford a new processor. So I've got this machine which is still all under warranty that is essentially a paper weight, anyone gonna make any offers? :P
 
What CPU do you have? If this is "all under warranty" as your post states, can you not swap out the CPU?

CPU warranty void according to supplier/Intel due to physical damage. Never mind that I got it like that, but try and prove that to them. My word against theirs.

So you are aware of CPU damage, why did you even go through the process of getting a MB RMA?

And what CPU is this? What model / chip etc?

cos my CPU was working fine last I checked, despite the damage. I was told that despite the damage it will still work, I just won't be able to OC it, not that I do anyway. It's been running like this for months. Granted it's possible it could have finally given up the ghost. But I have had previous problems with the board would led me to believe this.

CPU is an Intel i5 2500k.
 
Mmm, that is bad luck.... Can your friend not "borrow" another CPU and test to be sure it is your CPU first?
 
Ok, so I had an Intel i5 2500k.

Now I have found a mate from a mate who has a G2030 CPU @ R300.

What's your guys recommendations on this processor?
 
Well, it's a big step down, but for the price it may be worth getting it, at least until you can replace your i5...

Also, this will mean that you can ensure that it was indeed your old CPU, and not another part.
