Hi guys

Long time reader of myGaming and long time user of MyBroadband.

I want to ask a question, which I am sure will best be answered by members of this community.

I want to upgrade my computer- not that my current computer is bad; it's just too damn loud.

My current specs are:

Mainboard : Asus M4A78LT-M
Chipset : AMD 780
Processor : AMD Phenom II X4 965e @ 3400 MHz
Physical Memory : 8192 MB DDR3-SDRAM
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 -- its the msi cyclone edition. Damn loud.
Hard Disk : OCZ-VERTEX4 (128GB)
Case: Cooler Master cm-690-ii-ver-2

What I am asking as a new member of this community, is advice on how to upgrade this computer to be silent. As in 0dB or whisper quiet. I know complete silence will not be achieved but the noise is driving me nuts.

Games I play are WoW, Hearthstone, Diablo. Nothing to graphics intense.

Please help me with this.

Regards

In my experience, the best and only way to make a pc is by going the water cooling route! Yes, you do get silent fans, but they are not as effective as water cooling.

Was watercooling one of your options? Might be out of the budget a bit for some people

It's a bit expensive considering I'm not a huge gamer.

You need to go for bigger fans, lower RPM but with the same air displacement.

Otherwise, get better earphones :)

Personally this would be my shopping list

BitFenix Recon Fan Controller

Intake corsair sp120 quiet 120mm fans twin pack

Exhaust Corsair AF120 Quiet 120mm Fans (Twin Pack)

They also have a bundle but I'm iffy about the fans included
Lamptron touch controller bundle special

Essentially though your best bet is to get a decent controller so that you can control the fan speed and the noise, otherwise everything is running at 100% and full noise.

Looks good. Might get this.

Do you by any chance now if this cooler http://titan-ice.co.za/arctic-accelero-xtreme-iii-gpu-cooler.html will cool this card http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N460GTX_Cyclone_1GD5OC.html

So this is what i did- I opened up my case and unplugged all the case fans. Still the PC sounded like a vacuum. So, I unplugged my gpu. Still sounded like a vacuum. the culprit? My PSU. Bought a 80+ certified gigabyte "silent" psu and now it's much better. :)
