The Elder Scrolls Online Beta

I wouldnt say dislike as much as annoyed yes. The game is just missing many modern standard MMO features which is irritating me. I am still playing it, a lot though. I am enjoying the single player experience.

Someone should've played the beta so he'd know what to expect :D

Ergh I know! My rule against playing betas came and bit me in the a$$ this time.

I'd figure you'd still be enjoying the game though :)

Sooo shrike... Will you be joining us in wildstar then?

Wildstar is bought and paid for. I will be living in WS for quite some time. I am very excited about the multiplayer functions in WS. The one that stands out the most: being able to play with friends regardless of level.

Eish, i am having severe altitus , i got to lvl 10 on my Templar and things started going downhill with the class. It's not working for me in the "self-sufficient / survival" way i like to play.

So i see people are rolling Nightblades and turning it into "Blood Tanks" and "Blood Mages" , so looks like i'm going to have a look at that. I already grouped with people and there was a Nightblade tank/healer healing the entire group since you can turn the Siphon into an AOE.

I also saw DragonKnights got quite a surprisingly amount of self-healing hidden in between all those Fire skill lines. So it's moving up in my list of classes to reconsider.

My problem with Templar is the fact that its got a distinct skill line -just- for healing , which means you end up having to use 1 or 2 of the 5 skill slots you have for a self-heal/group-heal that are kinda overkill on your own (slow cast times, AOE healing ) . This is not very exciting gameplay for me unless i'm in a group and healing other players. It's great if you want to ONLY heal (healer main), but if you want to go hybrid with some self-healing thrown in, it gets very compromising.

Regardless, i really starting to enjoy the amount of flexibility with the Armor/Weapon/Guild skill lines. You really CAN turn your Sorceror into a tank and supplement it with a few sorceror spells (Frost Tank comes to mind).

However for my self-sufficient requirement, the only class that seems to lack proper self healing is Sorceror, so it is a bit of an issue for me, they need to get their heals from the Guild skill lines ? (the undaunted guild tree seem to have healing, which incidentally looks like a good supplement for a Nightblade going for a "Blood Mage" style of play )

From what I see Sorcs get heals from the resto staff but only efficiently at 15 when you can swap out, drop a heal and swap back to destro staff.

My templar is now a solo monster, I have an almost perma knockdown, as long as my mana lasts and most things are dead long before I run out. Plus I am heavily invested into mana regen passives and spell cost reduction. Most of my fights go: ranged dot, run up, aedric spear strikes at melee range, things are dead. This works on groups too. For boss mobs I switch to the knock down spear, dot, KD, dot, KD, dead.

So no self-healing ? Yea, Stuns/Knockdowns is VITAL for survival, some mobs do crazy amount of damage for some reason, especially fireball throwing scamps. Thing is, what you describe there as to how you play your Templar, is amusingly something every class can do. It's just when it comes to consistent self-healing where it gets limited.

Also, i don't think Zenimax got the Bow/Staff play quite right, i hate it, Bow feels terrible. The Melee weapons are awesome in contrast, so i actually want to play some sort of melee character and just move the ranged abilities into casting (either via magic or stamina, you get both types).

This is why the whole Healing Staff thing as a means to self-heal did not go down well with me, i am not enjoying staff play. Even my Sorc, i realised i was going through my mana like crazy because i did not enjoy rotating spells with my staff :)

I forgot to mention that I have the HOT from the resto staff on my bar and I use the resto staff all the time for damage when magicka is low, I have it traited that the full hit returns mana as well.

I also tried to go for bow/staff but, like you, I also hated the bow, it felt like I was holding air in my hands, I ended up using my stamina running around rather than for damage. I can see that ranged DPS sorcs in groups will use a bow to give constant DPS output in between magicka regen but thankfully that will never be me.

If/when I get to a stage where I have spare skill points to throw around, then I will start looking at melee skills since, yes, the melee skills are awesome. I am not crafting at all and I want to make sure all my passives I need for healing are tricked out and then play around with melee.

Yea, i am also not spending much points in crafting, it seems to be a micro manage nightmare. I saw the official forums have alot of complaints about bag space and the amount of materials you need to micro manage to craft. I absolutely hate micro managing my inventory, so i am still in 2 minds about spending alot of energy on crafting and gathering.

The cost to travel back to town at lvl 10 to go dump your inventory , considering that if you gather alot it fills up almost instantly combined with loot, is also insane (both time wise and gold wise if you use shrines). It just seems like a highly mind numbing activity to do early on, maybe if i jacked up my horse (extra inventory space via horse) AND my bags AND bank i might reconsider.....

...or if they give me a companion "mule" , like in Skyrim that i can send back to town to go sell all the stuff (like what they did in Torchlight) .

I have already made 2 alts for just carrying stuff, they are full of materials already, will have to make mule number 3 soon. I plan to dump all of this in the guild bank, once the guild actually gets one, or just give it away.

I love exploring and looting and gathering everything in a MMO. Usually this pays off for me HUGELY at the starting stages of an MMO. I loot, I gather, I sell to all the people who want to race their crafting up the ladder for big money. Sadly, no way to sell stuff to anyone in this game other than spamming the zone chat.

I hate crafting in any MMO and in this one even more. I tried to make some provisioning (food) and after pressing the "R" key to craft 1 item at a time, 60 times, I decided to draw the line in the sand before my annoyance makes me not play the game ever again. I mean, seriously, you can't queue up multiple items? I am surprised the game does not make you sit down and stare at a book to regain mana between fights. (For the young crowd, that was how you regained mana between fights in EQ, back in 1999.)

Got up to level 6 yesterday and then they decided prime time was a good time to shut down the server so there was that. I'm playing Templar going to go the healing route on this character, but for now I have a skill from each line on my hotbar so I can level them all as I play.

Just a tip, and I saw this in action: if you use your restoration staff all the time as your only weapon, you don't need to put any skills on the hotbar, it levels up because it is your weapon you have equipped. To speed it up, just put one skill from the resto staff on your bar if needed.

Yeah, but to level the individual skill I keep it on my bar until it's maxxed out. Trying not to focus too much on any one thing atm, just keeping up enough DPS in case I need to do solo content.

Ya, they did it two nights in a row now. Clearly the entire world lives in the USA again when it comes to Zenimax. Worst is, they don't even announce it in advance, it's literally just "We are shutting down the servers NOW, kthx bai" and bam..game dead.

Damn, takealot only getting me my box on Monday (hopefully), so no ESO from Sunday until I can open the box. Currently my box is sitting in DBN at the fedex office. I tried please and compliments to get the lady there to open my box and read me my code. She would have none of it!

Oh well, I still play D3, so 2 (or however many days it takes) days of D3 isnt too bad.

Yeah I'm not liking that, they need to handle it a lot better.

Ugh crap, i am having launcher woes again, it's now re downloading the entire game again. Bloody hell, i thought they sorted this BS out.

So everyone else, MAKE BACKUPS! The launcher is known to wipe your folder for no reason and do a 22gb re-download for shits and giggles.

Looks like i'm buying Diablo 3 Expansion today, all this redownload & maintenance times is seriously messing with my game time, going to need an alternative.

Soo.. who is as angry as most people on reddit and the ESO forums today regarding to pay upfront 12 Euro to activate your gamecodes on your account, even well it's a pre-auth when do we even get it back.. we can't activate our game with our free 30 days without adding a sub first.

You can read more about it here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/67461/bank-account-being-charged/p1

Lots of people are upset, more those who can't afford another $15 to start playing even though they have "FREE" 30 days.

And what about those who don't have credit cards or paypal.. they are now forced to buy a 60 day gamecard just to start playing.
