Quality of AOC monitors

Ahoy people,

Does anyone have any experience with AOC branded monitors?
Specifically their IPS range.

I'm looking at the AOC I2769VM (27" IPS) monitor (http://www.aocmonitorap.com/root/my/product_display.php?id=450)

On paper, it beats the DELL S2740L's (http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/monitors/1296247/dell-s2740l/specifications) response time and contrast. It's in the price range of the DELL, but slightly less (+-R700).

Personally, the thin bezel on the AOC looks sweeet :D
Inputs, thoughts and comments on the AOC will be appreciated.

I could have sworn I read somewhere AOC is a re-branding of another make of monitor (or vice versa), but Google's not being my friend today. If I can find the link, I'll post it.

Nothing wrong with AOC, they have however been caught "cheating" by selling monitors that don't have the exact specs as advertized by them so be aware of that.

AOC ... that is quite a sweet panel in that model and I know you get the same kind of 3 year carry in warranty with it so that is quite decent.

That's rather concerning.
Like missing an entire display port or off by 0.1ms in response time?

Yep, saw that :) 3 years is sweet!
Do you know if the warranty will cover the mismatch between specifications found on the box/retailer's page?

Name brands > uncertain (unfamiliar) brands until PROVEN.
Indeed, but I also want to save some monies lol :p

Maybe a supplier that has fiddled around with an AOC monitor can share their experience? ~here comes the magic word~ please :D

AOC has been around since the 30's if I recall correctly, they make quality monitors specially their IPS ones. I was looking to get one but sadly the supplier I was purchasing from did not have stock so I went for a Dell.

***EDIT

I have the same Dell model as you posted, just a 23" model. I am super happy with it, currently hooked up to my PS4 but I am looking for a 1x2 HDMI splitter to share with my PC.

I believe the dell has a 7ms response time vs a 5ms on the AOC?
I have yet to see any ghosting of any kind on my Dell. AOC is cheaper and has lower refresh rate? Get it!

Glossiness will drive you mad?
The screen is so bright it causes eye strain at 100% brightness. At 70-75% it is still quite bright but reflection is minimal to zero, unless I have direct light source shining on it.

I have an Art of colour and it performs well, just double check the advertised specs and make sure you have more than a 1 yr warranty.

Looking at your name I can't help but wonder whether Pinnacle Micro supplies AOC monitors. Guys?

Hey, yip - work for Pinnacle but we distribute Dell, Samsung, LG, Asus and AOC ... so its an honnest answer at least ;) We had a show on friday and I set up 2 pcs, an AMD 8350, with the 9290x and the Intel 4770k with a 780ti and for both I used the AOC 27" IPS and played dark souls 2 - was really great. The monitor definately did the hardware justice!

I have an AOC 20" monitor, really good, great contrast, I have sold a few AOC in the passed then my one suppliers stopped stocking them and now my other supplier recently started stocking them, Those 27" ones are really good and sexy too. Great screens and Well Priced

Thanks for all the input, people :)

Will probably get it when I have the available funds. Recent car service set my spendings to rather low for this month (and probably the next) :(
