I agree. It is a bad thing to rely heavily on players that are old/past their prime, even if they are there purely for being a talisman (like Smit used to be). Younger guys need game time and development at test level and I am sure that depriving someone of a spot because the old bal is in the mix, will be a bad thing. We have lots of great locks who could benefit from having a spot in the squad.
 
Ok think about this first your Top 5 picks in Locks for SA are all injured none of the others have any int experience and very little Super rugby experience, are you going to choose someone that can give you a fighting chance or someone that can cost you ball in Line outs.

Please go take a look at the Stats and see who is No.1 in line outs, none other than the man your hating on and he hasn't put a foot wrong since he's made a return.

A lot of people hate him because he's still good at what he does. He proved it against the stormers and the Sharks and the lions and most other teams he's played against so far. But if your your stuck with limited options you make due with what you have
 
He's nothing near what he was, even the unblinkered Bulls fans can see it. He has lost a few lineouts, he's sluggish around the field - ye, not what we need in a WC and that is my fear. Move to coaching the young bucks, not panting the paddock

Hehe Matfield has always been good...but I think his time is over. Like you said, all our top locks are smashed...that's probably why he is doing so well. I don't think he's got the breath to go into another World Cup as a top contender for that position.
 
He's lost the least out of any jumper in the Series no one has a perfect record this year so that means nothing.

Remember this is not a WC team This was picked on current availability for the incoming tour this is not even the final squad for the Castle champs.

I'm not saying use him for the WC i don't think he'll be bale to keep the pace and i think HM is mostly going to use him in a coaching position come the WC.

And he's not that sluggish he's surprised a few of the younger opposition players this year. And i'm not a blinkered bulls fan i'm a True fan and i see what is available for us at the moment. So Hate me all you want for and belittle my team as much as you like fact of the matter is he's not the worst of what we can pick but also not the best but for the time being he's what we can use.

And i expect HM to not even play him starting so Calm the nerves boys and lets see how this goes

There are 2 names in the Superbru IPL game I do not know. I have tried to contact them to see who they are but no answer.

They are: KatWoman and GIEP.

Anyone have an objection to removing them?

And people still have issues about him returning other players have made comebacks before him and actually went on to win a world cup so...........................
