ANC government remains pro-abortion

The ANC government will remain pro-abortion to enable women to make their own choices, Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini said on Tuesday.

"Where abortion is permitted on broad legal grounds, it is generally safe, and where it is highly restricted, it is typically unsafe," Dlamini said in a statement.

She was addressing delegates in Boksburg at an Ipas conference on 20 years of advancing access to safe abortions in South Africa.
 
I don't understand why they'd be pro-abortion since their voters primarily use baby-making as an income generator.

I discussed something of this exact nature with a female (no names will be mentioned), and I'm inclined to agree with a certain view point.

Here's my take on that particular discussion:

If the sex was consensual; both parties knew the "consequences" of their actions, but did so regardless, then I'm anti-abortion, BUT, if the sex was forced (aka rape), then I'm pro-abortion; should it be the choice of the birth-giver. I say this, as the child will be a constant reminder of the ordeal, and bad "things" can occur, as a result.

Personally I'm pro-abortion. Yes I know we are killing babies but my mom did foster care for unwanted babies who got dumped on the street corner or rubbish bins. I think it's worse to carry the baby to term and then dump it or try flush it, even worse are the people who keep the child and then have it taken away because of parental abuse.

So my view is that if the mother can't keep the child why force them to keep it when you are going to curse the child for the rest of their life as some scar of regret.
 
I'd rather allow a woman to have an abortion, than have an unwanted, unfed child or one that gets given away or dumpstered.

There are many folk who cannot have kids that would love to adopt - just a thought.

True but how many woman want to carry a child to term just so they can give it to home where the child will stay for 2-3 years whilst social services in SA take their sweet time about adoptions. Seems like a lot of trouble for her when there are 2 people who made the mistake.
