Dragon Age Inquisition

Mr. Nice Guy
I couldn't find a thread so I suppose this is now the OFFICIAL ULTIMATE THREAD OF DRAGON AGE INQUISITION but I will refrain from calling it that.

I got an email from Green Man Gaming now for a 20% discount but I see that the game is not available to our country. :( So then I thought I would go look at Takealot and wow! The price for the game is ridiculous! Is that what new games cost these days? R600 on pc?

I thought I would pre-order but now I think I'll just wait until it gets discounted. I would love to play it but I don't think any game is worth that price.

Rather wait than pre-order. Might end up being like dragon age 2 :p

Haha I'm very worried about your lack of taste in gaming these days. Dragon Age 2 and Bioshock Infinite! Heresy! They are both excellent. :D

I really didn't like either hey. Found infinite boring and dragon age 2 lacking big time. But I wasn't the biggest for the first DA.

Yeah I see quite a few people didn't like them. I guess it's those kind of games where you either love them or don't like them at all.

I finished Dragon Age 2 a couple of months ago and can't wait for the story to continue.

I want to try original sin that looks fun.

I'm really excited about Dragon Age Inquisition.

I absolutely ADORED Origins, it is one of my favourite RPG's of all time. I specifically liked the way relationships were handled in that game (This is a Bioware game after all ) as opposed to Dragon Age 2. I'm also really loving the sound of the new open world and it looks absolutely gorgeous so far.

So I have high hopes for Inquisition. We're getting a little Demon's/Dark Souls difficulty, a bigger world and gorgeous graphics - everything DA2 wasn't.

Now I just wanna know what happened to my child that Morrigan was carrying at the end :p?!

Also excited for this. This is the last game I've pre-ordered for this year... And probably the last game I'll buy this year at all.

Price for these PC games are insane. Best is to wait for one of those Kalahari vouchers and buy it with that while on special. I waited until they had discounts on all games and then applied a R100 voucher. Paid R427 for it, which is still a lot for a PC game, but better than R600. Only downside is you have to wait for Kalahari to deliver the order. Their deliveries these days are absolutely pathetic. I've been waiting for a month now for my last order to be delivered.

I'm not really too excited about the open world thing, but that's just me. The story just seems a bit stronger when it is slightly more controlled like with other Bioware games.

We all know this is going to release to massive fanfare, and then a few months later the true king of modern RPGs (Witcher 3) is going to release. :p

I'm probably going to buy this at launch, but I'm just waiting to see what content EA cuts out of the game to sell as day-1 DLC. I find it a little hard to get excited for this game, even though I generally like Bioware's games. I'm just so tired of EA and their shitty business practices. It feels like I'm signing my soul over every time I buy an EA game. :(

After watching the E3 "gameplay" trailer for this and then watching the E3 Witcher 3 footage, I have to admit that my hype for DA is almost completely gone. I might still get it, but with October so packed with big titles I don't think I'll get it on release anymore. I might still change my mind depending on reviews and what other people think of the game once it's out.

Not looking forward to this. Dragon Age 2 was terrible, and Bioware's recent history doesn't give me any confidence. The game just looks so janky for something this late in development. Did everyone get plastic surgery or something? I don't see any emotion on those faces.

I want to try Original Sin, that looks fun.

Do it! Best RPG I've played in years.

Usually games use 'player choice' as a marketing gimmick, but Larian has nailed it. You actually get to roleplay a character. Want to avoid most of the fights in the game? Sure. Want to spend hours stealing every painting in Cyseal? No problem, unless you get caught. Want to talk to a dog who'll tell you everything you need to know about it's murdered owner. Be my guest. There's so many options.

Larian has struck gold with this one. The reviews are starting to trickle in, and so far, it's unanimous praise. The founder of Larian said that this was the game they always wanted to make, and it shows.

65 hours in, and just past half way (I have been taking by time though). After a small bump, it got back on it's feet and is even more fun than when I started.

While I didn't love DA2, I didn't hate it, it was just very disappointing after DAO.

However if this doesn't give you some hope I'm not sure what will.

I have to agree... It's starting to go in the direction of 3rd person action-rpg.

From the gameplay, there's very little tactical element to it.
No planning nor assessment of the surroundings required.
Your party magically appears and charge the enemy.
Heck, even DA2 had more planning involved than what was shown :(

Also, no need to show your party when you explore it seems.
Damn you EA, stop killing Bioware games!
(but is actually good for my wallet)

I loved both Dragon Age and (to only a slightly lesser extent) Dragon Age 2 (mostly slightly lesser due to the action-packed Rambo/ninja mages, which very non-traditional :p).

Anyway, any of you get into the Alpha/Beta/Whatevera of Dragon Age Keep (read: that really schweet-sounding thing BioWare are planning to release that lets you set what happened in the previous games so that you don't have to replay it all)?

The characters' movements and expressions look so rigid. The archer animations are particularly terrible.

The armor designs are quite nice though, especially the mage robes. It's not often you see decent looking robes.

I'm still not interested though. There's too much drama, some of the dialogue is cringe worthy.

Apparently there will be a full isometric view for the PC version. That would fix some of my complaints about the animations, because at least they wouldn't be as in my face, but seeing as how chaotic combat is, with all the flashy effects, it doesn't seems like an isometric viewpoint would suit this game.

Other than the cut and paste level design, I really enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Thought the combat was really fun.

Me too. I also enjoyed the characters and the story. The only bad bit for me was like you said the areas that were used over and over again.
