Online Shopping

I tend to buy my games from Take2.

I really want to get my hands on the Aion CE and Dragon Age CE. I can get Dragon Age CE from Kalahari.net for R575 with free delivery. I haven't found a much better bargain than that yet.

I also haven't found the Aion CE and I don't want to settle for the icky normal edition... I'm guessing it'll be an import (yay for extra waiting time)... Unless anyone has any suggestions?

So... yeah, was just wondering where you all prefer to do your online shopping, specifically for games :)

uhm i have bought from them as well and Zaps, Wantitall, Kalahari and Look & Listen and service has been good on them all for me.

I Buy all the time from kalahari, their service excellent and they notify on everything... Be it a delay early shipment, out of stock issues, etc.

Good luck gettin an Aion CE, I've read they all sold out already with BT Games already. Dunno about the other online shops. But I primarily order from take2/kalahari/zaps and have always received excellent service

I heard the same from BT. Well, worst case I'll wait until I can import from Take2's UK/US More. But I think I'm looking at R800-1,200 there as well as the 15-odd working day ETA. I really don't want to pay that much, but if it's as good as they claim, then I don't want to settle for just another standard edition.

@ Zap - Kalahari was one of the first stores I ever shopped at online. I've never received bad service from them, but over the last three years I moved to be more inclined to use Take2 since I've had to deal with Take2's customer care once or twice, and I was quite impressed. I'm probably going to order Dragon Age from Kalahari... I actually have no idea though, to be honest. I guess I just feel like trying something "new."

I'm skittish about buying online from BT games though, their site just gives me the creeps stability-wise. However, BT games is usually the first place I go to when I look for a game in a store. Always have pristine quality boxes still wrapped up and stuff. Much praise for them there.

@ Wenzdayz, thanks for the info. I've never bought from Zaps before. (On a sidenote: ZAP_Tech, you have any affiliation with them? :p) Although, I might at some point. I like the look of the site. And, for as long as Take2 have their Amazon imports going, I will never go anywhere near Wantitall. Had le bad experience once upon a time :) Once bit, twice shy.

lol no, Zap_tech has nothing to do with them. But sometimes Moody is here(he's part of Zaps).
Take2 would be better for you, seeing as yourself and take 2 are based in CPT :)

Online shopping is convenient, but there's something nicer about going to a store and breathing in the smell of plastic game cases :D.

Location doesn't concern me in any way. Whether it's Take2 or Kalahari, I get my things in 24 hours after it ships, or at least, used to. I've just become used to Take2 as my first choice :)

See, I feel entirely opposite about this. I love shopping online because when I get my games, specifically, it's in pristine, unopened and perfectly "new" (mint) condition. I hate buying games from stores where they've been pre-opened or had the store's prices and rubbish plastered onto them. It's why I hold BT Games in high regard - games are always handed over to you sealed and undamaged, at least so far in my experience.

I also buy my books online because nothing grates my tits as much as finding one of those white square security tags plastered onto one of the pages. Arrrgh! Never again.

I'm totally with you on this one. I prefer buying cds, dvds and books online, for that very reason.

I import almost everything, works out alot cheaper

I find it depends largely on the item, but yeah, more often than not. Our games are actually way cheaper than most places overseas though, so I'm hardly complaining. Only thing that works on my nerves is when MegaRom/Ster Kinekor plaster their own little age restriction stickers onto my games. Getting it off is such a flippin' chore >.<' And why do it? It says the same thing on the box every time!

*nod* Nothing sets your mind at ease like buying a store-vandalised item :) Plus, I'm a huge sucker for the convenience of doing things online, be it buying and having it delivered to your door, or simply paying bills. Love it!

Gotcha! And... lol...

oh yea ur right, sorry my bad. totally forgot lolz :p

I didn't know that, so don't feel bad about forgetting :p

So, in other news I made my first online purchase (pre-order) with BT Games (Dragon Age CE WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!). It's actually a pretty fun experience, and I love reading the cheeky remarks through the whole checkout process xD

Like the acknowledgement of receipt e-mail:

Hi! I am the chief computer at BT Games and the humans hold me responsible for letting you know that your order has been received.

As the humans at BT Games are a bunch of control freaks and don't want you paying for something that is not immediately available, they will first process your order and will send you an order confirmation.

I love it :D

unless the actual shops irl has the item i want at better pricing i do all my shopping online.

but had this nice f****d experience with secure code this morning, because the system thought it needed to reject me and had to make X amount of calls to get my credit card a-oked again.

haha... Sounds fun. I had a similar issue a while back with my other half's CC. I like to think of it as mine since I'm the only one who uses it and puts money into the damn thing.

When I tried to get my subscription for EQ2 through SOE, bloody piece of crud wouldn't go through. PayPal worked like a charm though (bought a time card instead from OffGamers).

Turns out that at some point the bank decided the first line of the billing address was PO Box and then the first line of my other half's parents' street address. I mean, wtf?!

The random nonsense I get to sort out sometimes -.-'

I've worked at one of the (no long existing) larger cd chains briefly, and the people there opened everything up to listen/watch/play. And then there were customers who wanted to listen to cds in the store. All these opened items were resealed and went back on the shelf. No, thank you. I don't want someone else's grubby fingerprints over everything.

Euuuw. I agree. Only fingerprints I want to see on something new that I've bought are my own >.<

Only thing I don't like about Kalahari is that they keep products on their website "in stock" when they know they don't have the product. It happened to me, I ordered a book from them, they emailed and said that this book is no longer available from their supplier which is fair enough, but this book is still on their website today "available" to purchase. Other than that I must say that they offer great service and they refunded me no questions asked and within a week.

I prefer buying online, theres a bigger range of products and more often than not its cheaper, even with shipping cost, especially if you buying a couple of items. I've had no major problem with any SA online store.

Take 2 has served me well over the past few years due to it being a simple 10 minute drive to collect my goods :)
