Gaming Seat

Hey guys

So, I realize that this might technically be the wrong place for this post, but I consider chairs to be hardware...

I have been using a very uncomfortable wooden chair for years while playing pc, and recently this has been super painful for my more sensitive (lower) parts. xD

Could anyone recommend a chair? I am looking for a proper GAMING chair, somewhere between R1000-R2500 (ish).

Thanks in advance

Chairs are every bit important as the rest of our components. Incorrect posture could lead to serious issues in the future.

If you're able to stretch your budget to about R3 000, I'd highly recommend DX Racer chairs for gaming.

Sturdy, comfortable, made for prolonged use and looks pretty badass.

Otherwise, you could always go to Makro or Game and pick up an office chair there.

If you go for an office chair, get something with a high back and built-in lumbar support. Also, try to get either genuine leather or cloth upholstery. I've had some very comfortable faux-leather chairs that just didn't last past a few months.

Also, I agree that chairs are hardware. The rule of thumb: if you drop it on your foot and it hurts, it is hardware.

Not to mention the synthetic leather makes your arse sweat in summer :D

I would recommend one of the Humanscale chairs (I have the Liberty Task) or the Aeron. I never get back pain from it, and my gaming sessions can stretch into the double digit hours "whistling:. In fact, when my bed or sofa gives me back pain, sitting on this chair tends to take it away. Unfortunately it's waaaay out of your budget. But think of it as an investment - and these chairs come with a 20-25 year guarantee.

Another option is to go to Fullerton Office Furniture. They have some real leather chairs. Just don't go to Game/Makro for a chair - those are about the worst quality I've seen. I never had one that lasted more than a year without developing some sort of problem. And the comfort just isn't there.

I have already seen that website... I was hoping to get slightly better price than R3000 though :(

I am mainly looking at proper gaming chairs because I am considering a gaming related career choice xD

Even though it's a lot of cash, you should never skimp out on a chair. It's like your PSU. Rather save up and spend that extra cash now to guarantee yourself longevity with no problems in the future.

Good point.

Would it not be advisable to just import some other make of chair? (other than dxracer)

You're definitely able to do that.

Just remember, however, that customs will charge you through the roof unless you order through Amazon.

Also, if you buy locally, you can test the chair and see if you're comfortable in it or not. And as DXRacer chairs are available locally, I'm sure they'd be willing to accept a return if you're not comfortable.
