90s gamers and the problems they faced

Battle Chess, Scorched Earth, Commander Keen: Aliens Ate My Babysitter, Gorillas, programming my own things in QBasic and Turbo Pascal.. That 386 rocked, and I bogged it down hard!

I also remember the pains of getting floppies and stiffies to work, especially when cellphones were already common with stiffies.. Carry the two of them too close to each other, and your stiffie is fried :(

Not 90s, but I have a working XT PC in my garage gathering dust. Runs Dos 3.3 and equipped with a 20MB harddrive. Cutting edge for its day, I tell you.

Does it have a green or amber screen? Single or dual 5.25" Floppy drives?

Amber screen with a single floppy drive. I don't recall what I loaded, but I think Montezuma's Revenge is on there. The keyboard has a metal shell and weights about 2 tonnes. There is no mouse.

What! Talking about old PC's, I have a 286AT 20 ghz with Hercules green screen here at work still doing it's thing (They knew how to build em back then) Also have 2 586's (1st Pentiums) PC's still running Windows 95 on the factory floor as well.

Problem is the machines they control cost over a mil each so its not a case of just tossing them out either. Guess that is why an Old ballie like me is needed to look after them 2.

A bit of a derail, but your post reminded me of this quote from Warren Bennis:

The factory of the future will have only two employees, a man and a dog. The man will be there to feed the dog. The dog will be there to keep the man from touching the equipment.

Does it have one of these JQgiW.jpg I could not kill this keyboard on AT

The old server people will appreciate this. Recently decommissioned this (well one similar to this)...

Let's just say that it ran for close on 20 years without a major hiccup.

and replaced it with :

HP_Integrity_BL860c_mit.jpg

Bloody expensive due to the shitty Itanium processors

Well mine is not gonna help much, but here is a pic of a 586 on the floor.

The 286 is even worse as its in the wood shop.

I hated pc gaming in the early 90s. That was my console years. Nes,genesis and gamegear.
My nes was actually a famcom. I do miss those days a lot.
