Reasons to consider the
Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti

More render output processors 24 vs 16 8 more render output processors
Wider memory bus 192 bit vs 128 bit 50% wider memory bus

Might be a stupid question, but I'm overly cautious:confused:...

I'm not sure I'm following exactly. Do you have a 550 Ti and now consider getting a 750 Ti or are you looking at a replacement for the GT 420 from your other thread?

Anyway...
You can look at Tom's GPU hierarchy chart to get an indication of where a GPU lies performance wise. Tom's reviews can be a bit biased sometimes but the hierarchy charts are useful as long as you compare AMD to AMD and Nvidia to Nvidia.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

Tom's rule of thumb is that to get a notable performance increase, you need to buy at least three tiers higher. The 750 Ti is 4 tiers higher than the 550 Ti, so the improvement should be worthwhile.

Remember, it's not the width of the bus how you use the bandwidth ;)

So upgrading from my 560 TI to http://www.takealot.com/gigabyte-nvidia-geforce-gtx750-gddr5-pci-e-3-0-graphics-2gb/PLID28732481 would be worth it ? seems like a good price

Doesn't really look like it, hey. The GTX 750 Ti you linked to is only one tier higher than the 560 Ti so you won't have a big boost in performance. There are other things to consider as well like DirectX versions.

Remember that those charts are just a guideline. Read a few reviews and preferably reviews where the cards you are looking at are compared to each other.

Yea just saw the price and thought it would be worth it, If im upgrading i usually like to do it properly, so will get something that is a major upgrade instead, want to get my SSD and new graphics card together probably.

Jumping to a GTX760/Radeon R9 270X would be the ideal upgrade for you, actually. That way you're not limited much by memory bandwidth, which is the achilles' heel of the GTX550 Ti.

I would wait until the end of November to upgrade though. Maxwell launches in late September/mid October and then you'll have a chance to pick up some cheaper GPUs once the launch is underway.

..........

Sorry for the confusion. The GT420 is my brothers GPU. I've got a GTX 550 ti. Thought I want/need to upgrade after I got takealot's email this morning, but I'll wait a bit like Wesley suggested:)
