It should be fine then yes

100% correct, but at least you cat get a good feeling whether or not a specific PSU will be enough or you need to up the power.

Yip. But in this case I think all is well. AFAIK R9 270X has a max TDP of 180 Watts. The OC will be a bit more, let's call it 200W. So you need 400W for the graphics which is the biggest power drain. I'd go with the 750W in this case.

AMD has a nasty habit of recommending PSUs for their GPUs and they NEVER recommend anything smaller than 500W. So people see they need a big PSU for a small GPU and then think they need an even bigger PSU for a decent card. That is why there are people out there with a single R9 280 and an 850W PSU.
