EA beats game piracy, sort of

Ah, so they make it look like a console game. Well played EA.

It might be an unpopular opinion but with them releasing this half-assed 4th iteration with less features than any previous base game (very clearly to charge for it later down the line) I feel they kind of deserve the piracy.

I launched origin the other day to see if there were any BF4 updates, and I got a pop-up survey asking if I would recommend Origin to a friend. I said no, then in the reasons textarea, I put "EA has lousy business practices".

Of course, if someone reads it, they'll probably think "we are making money, so our practices must be fine". Probably should have worded it better...

Really? I thought they deserved a no sale.

Didn't one of the Batman games also have some weird anti-piracy thing where the player couldn't complete a specific task with a pirated copy?

They all get cracked in time. Non of these anti piracy measures work.

It's funny to see people complain about it tho. :D

It'll have to be something with great permanence that cannot be hacked to truly stop piracy.

Reminds me of those old Sierra/Westwood quest series, where progression critical events are not triggered when should.

There must be some hardcore measures truly to fight piracy, like game that self-encrypts itself and needs one-time code from company on every startup. Like in a bank.

Personally i think they need to get serious. Like a bug in pirated games that deletes the entire copy of the game.

The blur bug was cracked on Thursday, a day before it released.

Yes, well played indeed, EA. That'll teach those pirates.

I find it rather funny. To the actual people that pirate the games, it is a game to them. They don't just crack the game to play it. They crack it because they find it fun. And yes it is already cracked. Blizzard has the record for spending the most on anti-piracy ever on starcraft... It was cracked within the first day of release, WITH LAN!!! As someone it the industry of digital entertainment, I feel that you should support the developers if you like their product, but most of them are very arrogant. They promote piracy themselves. The are a lot of people that I know of that wont buy the game in the first place, but they pirated it and caused someone else to buy. So it is not the pirates that is the problem in my opinion, rather the market strategy.
