Awesome man! From reading that artice you quoted by DrDude is seems Amazon don't ship to SA? I checked out eBay, but there is so much stuff that looks so dodgy its ridiculous...

OP have you tried watching any of Yify 3D movies with this?

No I haven't. Yify is a movie release group, right? If it is, the movies should be a standard SBS file so it will work. There is just that irritating issue of the image being a bit too big so the corners are out of view. But I'm going to try something tonight that may help a bit. I'll report back if it does.
 
Just noticed the one I order dont have a magnet switch :(

UPDATE: You can use Cardboard without the magnet by sticking copper tape along the side of the viewer and having it come into contact with the phone screen. When you tap twice on the copper tape with your finger, the phone will react as if it had detected a magnet pull.

For those of you that wants to order this from Micro Robotics, here is an update: they ran out of stock very quickly, and a shipment of Cardboards are coming into the country by this Friday. Orders will be furfilled by next week Tuesday.

Cool thanks for the update... Did you call them, or did they let you know? Coz i filled in my email address on that let me know thing and they haven't sent me anything...

I sent them an email and they responded with the info. They apparently underestimated the demand for it. You should get your Google Cardboard by next week Tuesday. If they give any other updates, I'll let everyone know.
 
Well I've asked Robotics to notify me when they're in stock again, don't think there are any other local suppliers ?

Iv asked pretty much all of my "usual" suppliers, and non of them are able to get... Hope the price stays the same considering the demand...
 
Just for the record: I will get back to this thread as soon as my workload dies down a bit. I want to review a few games and some other apps for cardboard as well as share my experiences with modding the unit a bit.

Spoiler: The games I tested thus far are crap.

Micro Robotics is based in Centurion, so delivery is probably necessary for many of us.

Strange, my order is still showing as delayed due to no stock...time to give them a call it seems.
