Hey Guys

Just Curious who here Overclocks their Rigs and to what degree, using xmp profiles, fine tuning etc..

I overclocked my system once a long time ago and that AMD Athlon 64 didn't like it one bit....

I overclock moderately with closed loops. (Too lazy to build my own liquid loop)

CPU sitting @ 4.2Ghz, with max temp 60C.
Nvidia GPU auto-boosts to 1100Mhz, with max temp 71C

I fine tune the CPU because the default voltage setting is a waste.
Default settings uses 1.21V, but now I use 1.18V at a higher clock. :)

I've had to downclock my GPU slightly for stability reasons, so whilst not exactly overclocking I have over/underclocked.

aint now fan of bsod's so im long past my o'cing days (last pc i remember i overclocked was my old p3 back in the day when i just increased the fsb speed from 100 to 112 mhz :D)

I only overclock my GPU, an average of 10fps for free is nothing to scoff at. My i5 is fast enough at stock so I haven't bothered overclocking it yet.

I have an i5 2500K, so I overclocked it from 3.3 to 4.5GHz. Can take it further, but then I have to start playing with the voltages, which I'm not comfortable with. Using a Noctua NH-D14 and the CPU temps never go above 56degC.

Maybe one day when my CPU starts to struggle I will overclock it further. I know guys hit 5GHz with the 2500K on air cooling.

I've only got a laptop (which i play on) but have never actually checked online if it's possible to overclock it, but even if it was.. I probabely wouldn't over clock it anyway because i will probably break something xD

Overclocking is my main hobby, I also do it for clients and for my personal setup.
I've managed to take a 4790K to 4.95Ghz, just waiting for proper cooling to arrive then I'll attempt 5.1Ghz on it.
Currently running a 4690K @ 4.8Ghz under a CM Nepton 280L, My xmp profile for my ram is 1866 but they are currently sitting at 2400 @1.65V.

So when do you break out the liquid nitrogen ?

Unfortunately those days are long gone for me, its become way to expensive and time consuming.
These days its all about clc and air cooling for me and on the odd occasion full loop overclocking.

But can you really control the temps to such a degree to avoid salt and moisture build up?

If I remember correctly, you live in the same vicinity as me? I know from working at Key that this was a major issue on the coast.

@Joker , Do you find that its worth it ? I know this can turn into a long debatable topic but is doing a standard xmp overclock worth it, how much does it improve game performance in general? also blow anything yet?

unfortunately i have a I5 2400 so I cant overclock except by messing with voltage which i'm not so sure i want to attempt.

Im suprised by the poll results, especial you @Eugene I thought you would be overclocking your rig for some reason.

I usually undervolt a bit rather than overclock. Though towards the end of a PCs life when performance is no longer adequate then I'll overclock.
