SA’s Internet speeds suck

Guess we should switch over to Svensk then... :p Jag talar lite Svenska. (No, I didn't use Google Translate for that)

Haha...

Typing on a phone on the can, yo!

Ingen fara :)

Dude, it was just me taking a shot at Lycan for being a grammar nazi and pointing out the pathetic state of telecoms affairs in our country. No harm intended. :D

It was originally a light-hearted jest simply because I find the irony in those types of passionate errors amusing :)

I keep my Grammar Nazism limited to those who seem to have the capacity to learn, or those who need to be taken down a peg. Normally, I'm utterly indifferent to it all.

Och förlåt mig, mitt svenska är lite dåligt, så talar jag det inte så ofta, men om du vill, kan vi pröva det lite mer. Du måste vara inte döm mig för hårt :D

we're all friends here

Nonsense. We're all anonymous handles in the great wide universe of the internet. We're about as much friends with each other as we are with the organisms crawling on our skin--oblivious to a point.

Dude, I said I speak a LITTLE Swedish! O.o Go easy on the Scandi-n00b! :p

From what I could make out that you said/asked, I'd like to speak Swedish to you, yes abd my forum name is Norwegian, because I was given it on a predominantly Norsk forum many moons ago.

Then pleasure about me thanking you, then I'm not too sure.

Then finally something about you not speaking Swedish too often but you want to? Is that correct? I refuse to use Google translate... It takes the fun out of learning a new language.

I believe some people on here do know one another outside of this forum and might actually be friends to some degree. I can confess to meeting at least one forumite on here in real life and would like to think that some form of friendship has been established.

Wha canna ah be frans witha peeps in dis hea internats? Be fran 4 me, Lycan?

You're no fun when I have to write it all out in English anyway :p

Initially asked if you really want to speak Swedish with me and yes, that I thought you were Norwegian or that just your name/handle is.

What the heck were you doing on a Norwegian forum? Dimmu Borgir? :D

Then I said "Kom ihåg det" (remember it), "annans glöm jag det" (otherwise I'll forget it).

Then "Ingen fara" (no worries/no problem/no danger). Although I'm not sure if that should be "inga fara" and unfortunately my translator is already asleep :p

Sure, I'm not denying the fact that it's possible to make friends on a forum. I just mean that a forum is essentially like a mall: everyone buggering around, doing their own thing, but you're unlikely to even notice any specific individual unless they're in your face.

Om du vill bli min vän, måste du endast fragor mig :p Jag är riktigt lätt-going :D (Swedish fail)

I think a 1Gbps internet connection is the default that everyone should have. It just makes sense. (That and my OCD demands symmetry!)

What do you use these connections for though?

I mean, dealing with large downloads/uploads it's wonderful but at some point don't you still need to get the files across to/from South Africa? What's the connection like to these instances?

I'm just using them test new applications, so I have a 10MB line at home and obviously that's a bottleneck when I connect to my instance, but only in the fact that there's a slight delay between my opening something and it actually opening.

Otherwise it's mainly moving huge resources around and testing various loads and configurations.

I did actually download some games through Steam on my instance and the hard drive write speed was bottlenecking the download :D

So... first-world internet's not bad, eh? :p

I can't imagine ever going back to a 4Mbps line. That's not internet!
