Ok, so most of you will know that Halo is an Xbox exclusive. The franchise has an enormous following from what I can gather. The purpose of this thread, for me, is to find out why.

Now I have never experienced any Halo game! Based upon reading TheHammer's thread on whether or not peeps will be getting the Xbone. Of late I have been considering picking it up, based upon certain choices in games that I would like to have/play (i.e Forza & Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive). Granted I have a PS4, but different system for a different purpose.

The gist of this thread is that I want to focus exclusively on Halo/Xbone. After playing Destiny for a while and noticing how fluid and wonderful the gameplay/controls are, it makes me wonder. What is Halo like/about?
I am left with this void, that I almost feel like something is missing. From playing that awesome game by Bungie (Destiny), I can only wonder what the Halo franchise was like, and why is there such a huge community?

With the upcoming release of Halo: Masterchief Collection. From what I understand, it is a somewhat redux of all the Halo franchise brought to 'next-gen'. As explained above (the void), I am considering buying the Xbone for the sole purpose of having/playing Masterchief Collection.

I would also like to know a little more about Halo (if there are any MyG fans). What does it play like; single-player, multi-player, co-op, pvp, etc.

So... will you be getting the Masterchief Collection, and will this be the reason you buy an Xbone?

Was wondering the same thing. Will follow this.

The Xbox is intriguing me. I love the ps systems. And I own a vita which will be amazing with the ps4. But something about the Xbox makes me curios.

Halo 1 and 2 came to PC, so if you are lucky to find copies physical or digital you should really give them a play. They are very lengthy and the story is quite astounding, I won't lie the graphics have aged considerably but then again they both came on the original XBOX. To date I have completed 1 and 2 and played a bit of 3 and 4 but skipped the spin off's like ODST and Reach.

I honestly would get a XB1 just for the Halo MC collection but I can't justify the cost for one (4 games).

I personally love the Kinect. I find it to be very resourceful and fun for family/friend orientated games.

Well here's the thing. Like PS4, I bought it recently due to the fact that I will be getting one for Bloodborne. It just so happens that some decent games have come out in the interim.
Now similar to that, I considering the Xbone. Granted, it's not like I'll be buying Masterchief Collection, and only that! There are other titles I'd like as well. But if Halo is that good, I might end up getting one. Just so happens I'll then be able to have/play Horizon2 as well ^_^

Halo is a fantastic franchise. I've been playing Halo since Halo 3, and I've enjoyed every second I've played it. Here are some of the reasons I can give you:

Gameplay: We all know that FPS games on consoles is a tricky thing to learn, let alone be good at. Halo have managed to make the gameplay so accessible to players of all skill types that I would suggest it as the title to learn to play FPS games on console. Aiming while strafing is done fluidly, the weapons feels accurate and weighty, and the mechanics are responsive and fun

Story: The story itself is very good for a game of this type. Usually multiplayer focused games usually skimp on the story or career mode, but not Halo. Yes there are games with better story telling, but I think the whole world and milieu created for Halo is what draws you in, sucks you into the world, makes you feel involved and part of it. It's a rollercoaster ride

Single players: Halo has absolutely amazing multiplayer capabilities, this much is known. It's why Halo is still used for tournament purposes. But usually, when games has such polished multiplayer experiences, the single player suffers. Halo provides more than enough game modes and skirmishes for the single player to enjoy even after they have completed the main story line. most of my time was spent playing skirmish battles in Halo. The bots are actually not that useless, and the game can become very challenging at times.

Overall, Halo is indeed a title that can, and have, sold millions of consoles on it's merits alone.

I've played Halo 3, ODST, Reach and Halo 4. They are fun to play and well made, but I don't think that Halo alone would be a deciding factor in such a big purchase. The MP is fun and I've spent some time with it, but I much prefer Battlefield's team based mechanic. Single player is cool and epic, but I've never played any of them more than once through.
