10 most pirated PC games right now - 24 September 2014

Wow, just wow Lycanthrope. Did you really just say it's okay to pirate indie developers...games?

Yes.

I don't support the notion that it's okay to support fly-by-night "indie devs" who release shoddy media to make a quick buck.

I also don't buy into bullshit reviews and I fully support the "try before you buy" philosophy.

If it's not clear enough: I have absolutely zero problem with piracy and I do pirate.

I actually agree with Lycanthrope. The indie scene has become oversaturated with complete garbage in recent years. For every 1 good indie game, there's 30 pieces of shovelware.

I'll also admit to partaking in the 'try before I buy" piracy tactic. I've just had too many bad experiences with buying PC games that don't work or run well despite my PC meeting the required specs. Dead Rising 3 is the first game in a long time I bought without doing this, only because I couldn't be bothered to download over 30gb to test it out so took a leap and bought it. I'm happy to pay for games that I know will work (such as console games) but with PC I've just had really bad luck.

I have to agree with "try before you buy" tactic. I have been burned way too many times by games that look good or get good reviews and are actually completely crap. I have no problem spending my hard earned cash on games, but I want to know that I am buying quality.

Agree.

I would definitely buy a game that I enjoy, and I know what I'm getting. But I need to be sure, I don't like to flush R600 for shoddy games.

I think the big game devs need to start releasing demos on a regular basis again, then our 'try before you buy' argument would be somewhat invalidated.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the game at release. You can wait a few months and then pick it up on special. That way you will also have more time to determine if it really is worth it or not, via reviews or via the opinions of the gamers you trust.

I would however also like to see more demos.

Granted, which I also do, although I don't always trust reviews.

Play the ball, not the man, please.

Not that I want to cause trouble, but Lycanthrope was only responding to a post by Wyzak that was literally playing the man, not the ball. I don't understand why Ly needs to be called out on it.
