BTGames! Upgrade Your Site!

What do we have to do to get BTGames to upgrade their site?

If I have to add the same five games to my wishlist again, only to have them magically disappear a few days later, I'm going to freak out.

And why is there no security certificate on their site, even when you log in?

Why do my changed details only get saved when it feels like it?

BTGames = best physical store to get games at in ZA, but wow... their website needs serious, serious work.

Thoughts?

BTGames online needs work. They need to hire a proper programmer or something. If they had a site half as good as Take2 they would make good money on their online stuff. I refuse to buy anything from them online.

I pre-ordered Dragon Age CE from their site. I enjoyed the experience, and I love the witty/cheeky banter throughout the process. But zomg that site's mechanics is just tragic >.<'

And I agree with you, completely. Their site could be awesome, and as much as I dig Take2, I would only ever buy my games from BT's site. But no security certificate? A thousand glitches? Ugh... Not unless they have a very good deal or unless I'm very desperate.

Which, in itself, is incredibly sad.

Would just be fantastic if they would spot this thread or see that their site's design is what stands in the way of it really being awesome.. Just... something.

Upgrade your site, please BT!!!

The no security certificate is the reason i choose to pay instore for my product when i got to pick it up. Safer that way.

I agree with the site needing major work ...... mebbe MyGaming can do an article on the shoddy state of the site ..... I bet something gets done then ;)

They are too busy now, Customer Number:8995000621. With all their new demands associated with opening and maintaining new branches, they have little time to bother with 'trivial' things like that!

See, I'm not worried about the security when it comes to paying for the item. They e-mail you the bank account details and things once it's confirmed and, yeah, it's all quite painless.

My concern regarding the security is that the data between you and the server isn't encrypted. Meaning my residential address, name, postal address, home and cell phone numbers and what I've purchased is all pretty much readily available for anyone with the know-how. I actually wonder if someone with the know-how wouldn't be able to see your username and password too, since, again, there's no encryption.

It just feels horribly uncomfortable.

I'd actually love and appreciate that. Would be fantastic! Although, my heart would break if they instead simply decide to disable the online shopping feature of the website -.-' But, you never know.

Pff... No excuse!!! Their website is, I believe, one of their most important assets. Letting it go to waste when it could be more than a match for the likes of Kalahari, Take2 and kin, is just sad. To not give their site the same amount of care and appreciation as they would a store is not only a disservice to themselves, but to their customers as well.

:(

their staff and services needs work too, again i'm stuck running after them for something that i want. yeah f*****g right @ ships in 2 working days...

Well i find their staff not as knowledgeable as i expect from a game supplier. I dont want ummm's or ahhhmmm's i want straight forward answers. Ive caught the one in Tyger Valley out once or twice where he tries to bs me not knowing that i know more about the game than him or any member of the staff.

...definitely would be nice to see under contact details all the new outlet's numbers without having to phone the old ones to get them.

I think they are just getting too big.

With that comes a serious drop in standards due to the workload, amount of information, and many cases of 'The left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing'. Also they end up hiring more and more staff that do not know what they are doing, and won't actually care.

well its arrived and leaving at that. what would be nice is a due when it will arrive rather than just noting its shipping...

I can understand that. Personally, I don't mind waiting two working days for a courier delivery. It would be abnormal since I'm used to getting next-day delivery from the likes of Take2, Syb and Kalahari, but beyond that, I'd start getting twitchy.

Ugh... Don't get me started on Tyger Valley's BT -.-' The store always feels claustrophobic, humid, it stinks, there's literally just one guy who seems to know anything and, this is just a nitpick on my side, but I really don't care about how much you dislike the fact that I'm buying a Steam-based game or how you hate the online activation in GTA. I do too, I abhor DRM, but I don't bloody care, I'm buying it because I want to, not because of what you think.

Again though, the games are always in mint condition and I'd rather buy my games there than anywhere else (store-wise) in this area. The BT at Cavendish is pretty sweet though, but that's a fair drive away.

Cheap Labour. The pay the staff minimum wage, ofcourse their not going to get someone who is all clued up as far as new games and such is concerned.

If i had a couple of mill I would open a decent game selling shop In Canal Walk. Something the size of the old Musica Dvd store. Do the whole 9 yards. All kinds or Merchandice. Hardware, Software, Peripherals, Clothing, Even the action Figures and such.

I need a partner though. Anybody in cape town have any business sense?

I'd be up for it. It's sort of a dream of mine... As corny as that sounds. But I have no money, so... I'll PM you when I win the lottery ;)

Aye that is true. That is why I generally prefer the smaller dedicated niche shops as they do not suffer from it as much as the larger chain store brands tend to.

BT used to fall into that category of being a knowledgeable personal experience, but as but they got bigger they started to substantially suffer more and more from minimum wage clueless-ness. Quite a few times recently I have hit walls with staff that have NO idea of what is happening.

I actually kind of envy the people who work at BT. I wonder how much staff discount they get? I could imagine it would be around 30%. And they'd pretty much get dibs on whatever new releases...

Pff... Low-pay or no, it seems like a comfortable job :p

I applied for a job at BT Tyger Valley. In the interview explained my love of gaming, know-how everything. Got turned down, not enough sales xp. Im sure it has its perks but if i look at the staff turn around at Tyger Valley i think its not worth it.
