Review roundup - Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Wow... Pretty decent reviews by the look if things! This will probably be my next PS4 game...

What is the actual release date for this? Saw BT Games have it as 3 October, but I ordered from CNA today and it said shipping on 10 October.

Read an article and if you want to run ultra textures, you need 6GB VRAM.

Sounds like terrible optimisation, but it won't stop me from buying the game.

Wow 33gb download done and dusted, only took around 10 hours *eek*. Now waiting for Ly to comment on interwebs speed in Sweden!

I have already pre ordered this game via BT, this game is one of the main reasons why I went for an upgrade. From a 5770 to a 280x :) Really stoked about this one.

They probably run massive uncompressed textures then compress them all together again to give massive amounts of detail, the opposite is usually done where textures are compressed them spread out. VRAM is usually needed to render X amount of rasters on a screen the more detail the more RAM you will need.

I doubt my lowly 1GB GTX 750 would be able to run it past medium, so I am getting the PS4 version :D

Is there a price round-up for this title as yet?

After reading a few reviews, I am very excited for this. Just to decide which platform to get it on, PS4 or Xbone?

I have to say after doing some digging with the whole 6GB ultra bullshit, I can confirm that this game was just a straight console port.
Some of the textures are shockingly poor...as in Risen 1 poor...the 6GB ultra requirement is purely for pre-caching.

Meh
PC gaming its becoming a joke.

The game is a Nvidia title yet sli doesn't even work...Crossfire works fine though lol

State of pc gaming...

I ordered the PC version, Total Biscuit gave it a glowing recommendation. :)

Yip he did, he also gave Watch Dogs a recommendation and only later came out saying the game was broken ect.
I don't bother with reviewers anymore, although Total Biscuit and Jim Sterling are generally decent when it comes to reviews.

I'll be sure to check out TB's video tonight.

Concerning the Season Pass;

Warner has confirmed the content of the Shadow of Mordor £19.99 Season Pass - and it includes a raft of story missions and challenge modes.

Perhaps the most eye-catching is the Bright Lord story mission. Here you play as Elven King Celebrimbor and fight Sauron.

Elsewhere, Season Pass owners get early access to the challenge modes.

The Season Pass content in full:

Guardians of the Flaming Eye Orc Warband Mission: Face Sauron's elite Defenders before the Black Gate and earn the Rising Flame rune
Lord of the Hunt Story Mission: Players will gain new skills and earn unique epic runes as they hunt and tame legendary monsters of Mordor
The Bright Lord Story Mission: Play as Celebrimbor, the great Elven king of the Second Age, and face Sauron and the might of his forces
Early access to the Trials of War, including:
Test of Speed Challenge Mode: You can demonstrate your efficiency in battle and earn high scores for Talion's speed in defeating your foes
Test of Wisdom Challenge Mode: You can prove your strategic abilities, through earning points for skill, speed and efficiency
Endless Challenge Mode: This mode will continually spawn new legions of enemies. The Runes that you will earn will provide powerful upgrades
Access to future content: Including runes, skins and additional add-on content

Can anyone comment on the combat I have heard it is like asscreed is it easy to take out groups of enemys or is there challange to it.
