What on earth does the LD stand for, will it work in a normal desktop computer.

What is line desktop? From a compatibility point of view.

That memory module is part of Patriot's Signature Line and it's desktop memory. It's the Signature Line Desktop Memory.

Why didn't they say SLDM? Or even Signature Line DM makes more sense than abbreviating the LD part.

It's a 4GB module.

Tried the ram, it worked without any problems. Didn't try to OC though.
It's single sided with 8 chips.

Oh and it's made in the USA, not China

Just a shame it's out of stock, was really a good deal price wise, and single sided is apparently faster from what I've read.

Yes it is desktop RAM, Laptop RAM is shorter and therefore has 2 rows of memory chips (normally 4 per row).

Also the retaining slots on the side for desktop RAM are square whereas on Laptop RAM its semi-circle.
