R15k+- PC Build (Looking for Joker)??

I'm currently saving up for a rig. I plan on building mid 2015.
If Joker is reading this thread I was told on Mybb to ask you for your imput??

Used PC partpicker to ensure compatability. I already have a monitor and a 2Tb hard drive.

I think it will come to R20000 +- if I shop around haven't checked local pricing.

***PROBLEM***
The G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.

Hey china

15k? What happened to the 20k budget?

And yes...I see everything.

============

Good on you for including 16gigs of ram and a SSD.

First question they'll ask you is whether you intend to overclock. I'll leave the details up to the Joker, but throw in some thoughts:

#Processor
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core
Yes

#CPU Cooler
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Yes

#Thermal Paste
Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 12g Thermal Paste
Unnecessary unless overclocking - useful though

#Motherboard
MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Unsure

#RAM
G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400

G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400
Serious concerns about that 1.65. Personally I wouldn't risk it. Good for you on the 16gb though.

#SSD
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Well done on including an SSD. Try to push for a cheaper 256 though. Pro-tip: Nobody regrets SSD speed & everyone regrets SSD size. Hell I don't even remotely know my SSD speed...all I know its flippin fast and running out of space

#Graphics card
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB
No comment - other can provide better info

#Chassis/Case
Thermaltake Chaser MK-I ATX Full Tower Case
I'd try to cut corners here if not overclocking

#PSU
Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Consider cutting this if you're not SLI'ing

#Dvd writer
Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
Don't fkin need it - haven't had a DVD drive in my main PC the last 5 years

#Fans
Cooler Master R4-L2R-20AC-GP 69.0 CFM 120mm Fan

Cooler Master R4-L2R-20AC-GP 69.0 CFM 120mm Fan
Skip till you have the setup & know the temps

#Keyboard
Logitech G105 Wired Gaming Keyboard
Personal preference - would personally prefer wireless as KBs eat near zero battery. Logitech has served me well. Paid R150 for my KB/mouse combo and that keyboard is still going strong a billion year later

#Mouse
ROCCAT Kone XTD Wired Laser Mouse
Personal preference - no comment

#Headset
Corsair Vengeance 2100 7.1 Channel Headset Wireless
No - rather go high quality low channel number (Sennheiser, Logitech, Corsair or if you must Steelseries). You've got 2 ears and the speakers are right next to your ear. 7.1 refers to the number of speakers: 7 wide spectrum (mid/high) and 1 subwoofer speakers. So to which ear is that .1 subwoofer attached? I ask you this? Left or Right ear? Neither...you can't split one speaker...its horsesht marketing of the highest caliber. Buy a proper stereo headset with mic.

Personally...I'd spend a decent couple of bucks on the mouse pad. I bought a supposedly game grade pad (150ish). Should've paid 250 for a Razer pad tbh.

Joker will love you for wanting the ROCCAT Kone XTD... And DuckKnuckle will recommend and infinitely better set of headphones than the gaming ranges... And my R80 SteelSeries mini mousepad is awesome, whachutalkinabout HX?

Couple of things to think about.

Its not worth going the i7 route if this is a gaming rig.
The extra cash can be put towards a bigger SSD ect.
Don't worry about the mem voltage, I've got a set of Corsair mem that I've overclocked sitting at 1.7V. Not a problem on Haswell.
Also no need to go for a 750W PSU, way overkill. That GTX970 uses very little power and you'll be fine with a good quality 550W.
I love the Roccat Kone XTD, amazing piece of kit, unfortunately the main supplier for Roccat in SA is no more, so no chance of getting it here unless you import which isn't worth it.
The cooler isn't needed at all, the stock cooler is more than capable of cooling the chip.

I would opt for the following build:

Intel Core i5 4690K
MSI Z97 GAMING 3
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Kit DDR3-2400 CL11 1.65v
MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4GB 256bit
Corsair RM 550w 80 PLUS Gold Modular
Crucial MX100 256G SATA6G
Corsair Vengeance C70 Windowed Artic White
ASUS DVD Writer 24x

Peripherals are generally personal preference but I'll give you some good budget alternatives.

Corsair K30 Raptor, Red Back lighting
Corsair Vengeance M65
Razer Tiamat 2.2 Stereo

That will set you back around R20 000 or so

When you are dropping 20k on a rig it is not worth cutting corners on things like a case and a motherboard.
Look at getting the absolute best parts for the money.
Just threw this together quickly to give you a rough idea of what you should be aiming for.

If you need anything else, just drop me a pm.

Thank so much guys the original cpu was going to be a i5 as to my understanding games don't even use the full capabilities ofan i7.
Will make some adjustments and report back. Yes I do think the psu is overkill.

I might SLI toward end of the year though but won't be needing it anytime soon

Regardless of what happens in the next 8 months, unless you are going to start needing a 6 or 8 core CPU for gaming in the next 2 years the only thing your going to worry about is your GPU eventually with a GTX970 I don't think your going to have issues any time soon .

I built my machine on about the same budget MANY years ago, and all I can say is once you have the build you want in mind, commit to it and order the parts. Don't keep waiting till next month for a special, or for a new piece of kit to be released... Otherwise you will never get your dream machine built.

Also, don't buy in stages. Rather stash the money away, and when you are ready, buy all your parts in one go. I made that mistake, and my awesome new case was staring at me for 2 months before I ordered the rest of my hardware. Was painful! And in that time, the price came down by about R200.

Otherwise, good luck!
