PS4 - Game Questions

US PlayStation Plus members were due to get the download yesterday but it never materialised. It was due to arrive in Europe today.

Now, in a new blog post on DriveClub's official Facebook page, game director Paul "Rushy" Rustchynsky explained that the delay was an attempt to ensure a smoother server experience for players who already had the full game.

"With DriveClub, we are dedicated to delivering a dynamic and socially connected racing game that everyone can enjoy, and along the way we're facing new challenges which we haven't encountered as a development team before," Rustchynsky explained.

"We are seeing a lot of activity and new social behaviours right now, but unfortunately this is pushing the servers to their absolute limits.

"In order to help all DriveClub players who have the game already, we're temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My DriveClub app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we'll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My DriveClub app will be available to download.

"To our PS Plus fans, we're sorry you're having to wait longer to play, but we want to ensure that when you come on board, you get the best experience possible. Rest assured, if you've pre-ordered the full game upgrade from the PS Plus Edition, you will still get the full version of DriveClub digitally, and if you can't get online you'll be able to get started offline like everybody else with single player mode as you start your DriveClub tour.

"You'll still be able to earn fame, unlock cars and get to grips with all of the options for playing and creating your own events and challenges - and everything you do will be synchronised with the servers when you do get connected, so you can set-up a bunch of challenges to send out to your friends as soon as you are able to join each other online.

"We fully appreciate how frustrating this is for everyone. We want you to get online with your club because racing, challenging and having fun together is what the game is all about. We know that racing with your friends online is what you've been waiting for and we are doing everything we can to deliver that experience to you as soon as possible.

"Sorry again for the difficult start. We'll keep you regularly updated on our progress as we work round the clock to improve connectivity."

The full DriveClub game will be available to buy from the European PlayStation Store later today as planned. It will be sold in shops this Friday.

"The problem with DriveClub is that it's just competent," Mike Channell wrote in Eurogamer's DriveClub review. "You'll drive some fast cars in some arresting environments. You might even have fun, in between getting clobbered with penalties. But there's no romance to it. No passion."

Awesome thanks. I just wanted an idea of when I will lose almost all access to my PS4 as my brother is going to take over the console as soon as he can play Driveclub. :p
 
You guys must check out the ps+ games they are really cool.That Pix the cat game is awesome like a new pacman.Pity about Driveclub delay fix your shit soony lol.

Yeah, the wait was too much for me.
If you like racing games, purely for racing, then you should enjoy this. It also helps that the visuals and audio is probably the best I've seen/heard in any game.

Probably a Free Car DLC or decals or something.

I was at CNA today and a friend that works there kept telling me how awesome Drive Club is and would offer me the Limited Ed. at the price of the Std. I really wanted to... Driving games and I have a love hate relationship. I love it for a few days then hate it for some reason unbeknownst to me.

Hence why I want to try the PS+ variant so if I don't hate it after completing it I would feel bad for wasting R800 like I did with AC IV.

Yeah look, it's bit for everyone. Very bare game tbh. But! If you like chasing times and friends times and skill boards this should appeal to you.
No race line, no options for ABS or traction control. I love competing against my own times even and finding the best lines.

From what I have seen watching friends play there are red/yellow/green flags at every corner as an assistant of sorts to tell you how to brake or change gears. I want a car game for PS4 (The Crew is absolute shite) and GT7 is months possibly even a year away and nothing else is coming any sooner so I guess I will splurge a bit when I get my new paycheck from my promotion.

Although at this point in time SoM, Alien, Infamous:FL and The evil with in are fighting for the no. 1 spot.

Well look, if you enjoy car games you should love this. The interiors are stunning and sounds are superb. Sometimes I just sit and rev the car like a laanie just to hear the cars and look at the details.

I appreciate your attempts at convincing me which are very good I am seriously considering it... but I will still wait for PS+ :) Then it's a easy R500~ purchase and instant unlock.
 
I am not interested in compensation I doubt the game is releasing on ps+ anytime soon as they are having issues with the online in the game and would not want the unwashed masses coming in and shitting it up for the paying customers lol.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not trying to convince you into buying it, just trying to shed more light on it. THIS IS NOT A TITLE THAT EVERYONE WILL ENJOY.

To be absolutely honest, the first few races I was very meh about it (and went back to Forza). Until I evolved further into the mechanics, it turns out to be a lot more interesting.

Compared to Forza? You think Forza is the best option, but this is the best comparison on PS4 so far?

Unfortunately yes, as this is the only racing game on PS4 thus far.

I don't know so much if I would compare it to Forza. There are some things it does better and vice versa. As I've mentioned though. This game is absolutely beautiful. They've really done a stellar job at recreating the interiors of the car and the sounds are phenomenal. The worlds and skyboxes are superb and actually feels like you're driving through the corresponding area.
And here's the main difference though, this is where they've added an arcade like feel to it. There are no tuning/upgrading etc options. No options for drive line or ABS. You get what the car gives you. For example the Maclaren P1 has the ability to use KERS and DRS but the Agera doesn't.

This makes it challenging to drift in game though without the ability tune accordingly. This makes car selection a bit more difficult as you have to chose prior to race on what you wish to achieve.
 
Just unlocked a Spyker and woah... the car looks fantastic inside! And now it's getting a tad moar exciting to drive, and challenging. I can only imagine what Super or Hyper cars will be like, scary thought.
