Do you have a Vista serial key on a sticker on the notebook? Because if you do, you're all set. When I re-rolled my own notebook, I killed the recovery partition, and after reinstalling Windows 7, the online activation failed. I just did the automated phone activation instead, using the key on the sticker, and it was fine.
