Ad valorem excise duties on monitors were abolished in 2004 based on the assumption that they were used as computer screens. “However, some monitors are also used as televisions, which are subject to ad valorem tax,” the document states.
Does it have a receiver? Then how is it used it as a television? The product in and of itself is a MONITOR, a DISPLAY DEVICE, not a TELEVISION.

    ANC logic strikes again.

So it's like this see: "Hey guys, instead of actually doing some work and spending money on creating jobs to increase our taxbase - which is already pretty stressed - let's not do anything and tax monitors! YAY! LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

No really, these guys HAVE to have a writer. You can't make this shit up.

So.....if you use your TV as a monitor.....do you get your money back?

I know loads of people who do this just hook up your decoder and your sorted. Glad the CEO of mustek said it can be dodged, that's where we get most of ours from.

Thank goodness for the legal sidestep, since prices will sky rocket and then they blame it on this tax.
