Yay! Can't wait to finally move on from the xbox 360, it has served me well, but i think it needs to retire.

Already?! I expected at least another 2 years before we heard "rumors" about the next generation of consoles. I wonder if Sony are also getting ready to work on the PS4...

I wonder if Microsoft is going to require an always-on Internet connection on the next generation console? But then again, the most exciting thing about it is probably going to be the new name!

Seriously, the reason that Microsoft touted the Kinect was because it was supposed to extend the life of the xbox 360 by several years. If you take into account that current cutting-edge cellphone system-on-chips are very nearly as powerful as the current generation of consoles (not to mention that they've got more RAM!) it's amazing that the xbox lasted so long. Shows you what programmers can get up to if not hindered by a crummy OS and are provided with a stable(ish) interface.

Xbox needs to retire? No ways! Still has plenty left in it IMO.

Was thinking of getting myself a slim edition, but maybe it'll be better just to wait the couple of years it'll take before the next gen comes out.

No ways! The 360 has just come into its own. We are seeing some of the best looking, best playing games to date. Even if MS is busy with the next generation its at least another 2+ years away. Maybe. I'll wait for the official release before I start packing up my box.

Agreed, the Xbox can still pull out all the stops. Look at Dead Space 2.

This next gen console might take many years to develop.

Fair Comment, but I believe PCs are starting to take the lead. Very few games look better on the Xbox vs the PC. Correct me if i'm wrong. Also Look at battlefield 3 coming out at the end of this year, 24 player maps for 64, that sucks. Its just my personal opinion though.
