Do you suffer from gamer burnout?

I think I may have to admit that I am suffering from gamer burnout :o.

I havn't played anything since Friday, does depression fall into that scenario too?? :p

Awesome Article.

I call it oversaturation but Gamer's Burnout is a much better term. Its the same as writers block, no matter what you do you just cant seem draw the usual enjoyment out of it. When i have writers block I game, when I have Gamer's Burnout I try and write.

Yup. This happened to me quite recently though. I was bored with virtually EVERYTHING I PLAYED. COD4, MW2, COD5, NFS SHIFT, Dirt2, Dragon Aids Oranges...... The list goes on.

Couldn't figure it out at all. I'm also one of those that LOVE my oldies, I even built a PC specifically for Dos / win95/98 and 3DFX games of old, and even switched to that and could not find a single game that interested me.

I would sit there and think of a game to play, sit through a 10 minute install, only to quit and uninstall the game right after the intro :|

Since my ADSL has been off for a while (thanks to the brilliance that is Roadworks and 1x dug up cable) I decided to host a LAN, and it worked wonders :D :D :D

Alcohol, couple of friends, mother insults being thrown about, COD4, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands + DLC *cough cough* MW2LAN was epic.

I'm still without DSL (only getting fixed tomorrow apparantly) So I decided to jog through Every single Call of Duty's campaign. COD1, CODuo, COD2, COD4, COD5, MW2 and it ain't even boring one bit

I just had like almost a 2 week break from gaming and I already need another. So that's a definite yes, I do suffer from gamer burnout. :/

After a burnout I like to go and play some indie games or some coop multiplayer games with friends online.

Oh yeah it's happened to me. I just swap to watching series/anime/movies for a while. Failing that I write, but truth be told that's not holding my attention much either at the moment. I'm internetless till later in November and I think the internet going to do wonders for my gaming habits :p

I've had it a few times. But it rarely lasts for longer than a day. In those cases I just start working on my story again.

I am suffering from this at the moment, I think the main cause is my fusked up W key and lag tho... :(

Hmm and I just called it being bored....

I play wow... so I get this often. log in and go watch tv... this would happen even if I'm in a raid....

Think I need to start shooting things :p

Many a time I have had gamer burnout but I have found for me it means that I just need to buy a new game and then it fixes it..:D

Same with me, haven't played in about 2weeks or more. Right now I'm just catching up with all the series I'm behind on. I found I was playing everyday from when I got home from work/gym, I'll play while I cook chow, and then carry on while trying to eat my damn supper in between rounds. All the way into the early hours of the morning. Not cool dude - so I started taking a break. I will admit though, I was kinda helped into this sabbatical by my TV breaking.
But I can feel the anticipation growing again - should be back gaming in a week or so :D

Steam's awesome sales are also partly to blame, "omg 10 games for $10, must buy!....OMG 20 GAMES FOR $15, BUY ALL THINGS!!!!!"
and now I sit with almost 100 games in my list and I'm, " =( I dont have anything to play "

I suffer from chronic gamer burnout :p

I buy a shitload of games but I rarely play them, I only play like three games a year but I buy 30...

When I start getting bored with games I think of an old game that I used to love and play it again... I usually get halfway through the game before going back to the newer ones
