14-year-old - Leaving a Broken Record (and Guitars) in His Wake on Guitar Hero III

At a Best Buy store in Midtown Manhattan, Danny recorded a score of 973,954 with a roughly seven-minute rendition of DragonForce’s heavy-metal shredder “Through the Fire and Flames,” the game’s most difficult song

holly budha, this kid kicks some serious ass...

...i'll have to practise a whole, whole lot more to score a 1/3 of that

Yes, he is pretty hardcore. He broke something like 80 plastic guitars already.

He just has the skills - he plays piano, guitar, the oboe, drums and heaven knows what else irl.

And that song he broke the record on - he was almost 100% flawless and then
Danny came within seconds of playing all 3,722 of the song’s notes flawlessly, but his streak ended at 3,558 when the blue button on his guitar broke under his assault.
Freak.

He plays guitar in real. Now to back my dislike for GH, I'll post this here. It's sort of like football games -- they can be fun, and I don't see anything wrong with playing here and there, but why play so much that you're one of the best? Why not just play real soccer?

It's sorta like GH. You can play Guitar Hero well. You can play guitar. Why play SO much that you beat a record? Why not spend that time learning the song for real?

i like FPS games, wonder who will object if i try it in real life...

...also i suck at playing guitar, had one for 3months and had to sell it, but i don't suck as much at gh - and it more sociable

But that's sorta the point...I mean, play some Guitar Hero here and there, but 80 guitars? 80 plastic guitars? More than one and I say shinnanigannary

I have no reason to doubt any of the information that's been supplied, especially around the amount of 80 guitars.
Colleagues at work have broken 2 or 3 and they are not even hardcore, anything but. The information is in the links and the sources are credible enough.
This kids YouTube profile is huge, covering all different kinds of songs, but most (if not everything) is on for Guitar Hero. He loves the game, even went as far as to say it improved his real play.
There is a youtube video in his profile where his dad (on guitar), his brother and him (this time on the drums) are doing a Steve Ray Vaugn cover. Now, that is pretty impressive.
So, it's a real song they were doing with real instruments.

He gets really keen :D

Amazing though - especially since he plays instruments IRL. I mean GH skill doesn't translate into real life but being able to play IRL certainly seems to...

somedays i climb into my leather pants
strap on suzy q (my guitar)
and climb into the xbox arena
only to get wiped away by some american kid

sad in sooo many ways
