2.1 Speaker System

I'm looking to invest in a new 2.1 Speaker System.

Preferably (Below).
Can anyone give me the price of the X-230 (now)?
Any other suggestions are welcome (similar price tag, preferably).

The ones I'm currently using ...

XFORCE-1-400x400.jpg

... Starting to give in ... Had it maybe just over a year now.

Really only had it for a year or so:O

I have had mine(6.1) since 2005 :p older than my brother hehe

Whats it for?

Wouldn't a lekker headset be more practical if you game a lot?

Thing is... I mostly use my speakers. Only use my headset at night, in order not to disturb others (and it's more than sufficient for gaming).

If I put my volume to about half (Bass|Treble|Volume all high), the speaker starts to dribble.

There are a few things about this 2.1 system of mine I don't like, and the X-230 has everything I like.

IMO; X-230
1. It's got a small speaker box with much greater bass delivery.
2. Longer satellite speaker cords.
3. Less Space consuming.

IMO; X-Force 1
1. Big Sub Box (relative to its size, should deliver more bass without distortion).
2. Very short satellite speaker cords.
3. Audible humming noising emminating from Sub Box (when it's quiet in my room).
4. Stereo sound goes missing (Right works(only), then Left works (only)). So I sometimes have to tweak the volume adjuster on the control, sometimes even the box itself (resorting to switching it on and off to get bass working properly).

Could go on and on about this... Would rather just replace the set.

Bottom line .. Don't buy cheap sh*t ... :D

Would rather settle for a different mouse (with side buttons), and bigger/softer mouse pad.

This is currently my weapon of choice (below), and it's quite good at its job, for what its meant to do anyway. Not your conventional Home Desktop mouse either. Just miss having side buttons.

Can't go wrong with Logitech, but why not go for the newer 2.1 model:

Logitech Z323

Or the THX Certified version:

Logitech Z623

Or if you really don't want to spare any expense:

Krator N6 21070

They also have a smaller model which retails for about R700

Krator N2 21030

Oooh I like those Krator Speakers!! Looks wicked!

Personally I own an old set of Z610 Logitech, and I am a very big Logitech fan. I used to love Cambridge Speakers, but found they fell a little behind the pack.... then again, its been a while since I had a look at their latest offerings.

Oops, I just saw that last link of mine was wrong.

But yeah, those Krators sound amazing ! Don't personally own a pair (I use the Logitech Z6's) but I have heard them in action.

I was thinking about this one. Just needed to know if anyone had heard them before and what they sound like.
I trust Logitech. And I just want a 2.1 SS that won't cripple under pressure as easily as my current pair does. I don't want to hear sub's speaker rattle, I want to hear bass. And with Logitech ... I know I'll get that.
I'm a serious music lover as well. And roughly 85% of my songs are bass dependent.

Bottom line ... Clear Treble. Deep (Distortion-less Bass). Decent Mids.

Did I mention I love bass ... :)

You will miss your XForce-1's, no other 2.1 pushes like they do for their price. The Logitech's have better clarity but not nearly as much volume and bass. The Creatives have about the same clarity but also less bass. All in all I've found the Divoom XForce-1's to be tops, pity the rest of their range is kak.

They started off great and still do their job. My brother has the Logitech X-230 ... And for their small package, IMO, they pack a greater punch than mine. My system starts losing its 'pushing' power long before his does. Come to think of it, I don't remember ever hearing his speakers distort. Maybe that's just cause he never puts it too loud. His bass isn't even full .. It's one 3rd of the way if I'm not mistaken and it kicks more than mine at full.

I dont want to hijack this thread or anything. But I've been looking into getting a new 2.1 system too. But I want mine to have a remote control. Do any systems have those?

I used to use the X230's and they sounded great.(I have no idea what they would cost now - I don't think many places stock them anymore) Plus they have a bass dial on the sub, and even at half, the bass was huge. The sort of sound that fills the entire the room if you know what I mean.

I think the Z323 should give you equal if not better performance considering they're the same wattage, the other is just a newer build. Best would be to go demo them somewhere.

Yeah, I had me x-230's for 5 years now and I still see no need to replace them, they simply produce superb sound all round. :)

Chances are I'll go for this (Logitech Z523). Read a couple reviews, and seems the 1 for me. It's a little pricey, so I'll have so save up for a while. But it definitely seems like a winner to me. The (Logitech Z623) is my dream speaker system to own, but way outta my league (for now).

(H)agan - is a 2.1 essential? Not sure on your motherboard...

I picked up my x530's for R750 odd and it runs really well.
The satellites are all wall mountable and the cables are pretty long (rear speakers 3m, front 1.2m) so they don't really get in the way. Plus you get the benefit of surround sound and they pack a good punch.

A good friend of mine has the X-530, and I know for a FACT they KICK! ... But my room's layout isn't exactly 5.1 friendly, so speaker placement may be a problem. I would love to have a 3-Speaker layout ... 1 dedicated to sound (for optimal clarity) ... and the LEFT and RIGHT (Stereo speakers).

It's definitely on my consideration list.
Owning 5.1 will also help in Battlefield 3, where knowing your enemy's position is critical.
